Hi Guys,

had several issues with Android 6, updated OTA to 7 and had a lot of the random reboots de ...

Ok. This might be unbelievable, but after posting the above message I just noticed my phone just rebooted.
Nothing was happenning on the phone, other than the fact that it was charging.
I'll just hope it's not happening as often as before, and wait for the next update for now...

Please read back or just read the second post in this topic and don't ask to give you the same answers again.
This version works properly on most devices (I also use a Z Pro as a daily driver with this version without any issues, and you can read many positive feedback in this thread) but since on some specific units random reboots or loosing mobile data connection can happen, the OTA update of this version has been cancelled. Now it's known as an issue related to SIM card handling. The devs are working on the solution and a new version with fixes will be released as soon as possible.
Until that, you can choose to:
1. keep stayed on android 6 and wait for the fixed 7.1.1 release
2. flash this ROM with SPFT as firmware upgrade and if it still does not work properly, you can flash the latest Android 6 version again
3. sell your Z Pro if you cannot bare this situation.
You may not choose the share hater posts here.

Hi bencebacsi,

appreciate your reply.
Now I can confirm that full flash with SP tool didn't solve the problem for me, reboots are exactly the same, and they seem to happen mostly in the afternoon (GMT) if that's even possible.

I switched back to my old UMI Super for now, and will be reverting to Android 6, as advised, if the fix that's being developed will not be released soon.

In that regard, could you please confirm that the engineers were indeed able to reproduce the described issue with rebooting?

Also, since there are so many people affected by this issue, could you give a (non-binding) estimate (best guess) on the timeframe when we should expect an update?
Just if it's expected to take a vew days, weeks, or simply unknown.
That will help everyone decide on what to do in the meantime.

Thank you.

Regarding SIM handling issue, I'm not sure if the following info is relevant.

I have had my SIM cards replaced. With both SIM cards, they are unable to auto log in to my Telco's wifi hotshots when in range. I had to manually select Advanced Options to select "SIM". After that it connects pretty well automatically. Never had to do any setup in my previous SD and Intel phones.

I have applied the 7.1.1 through OTA, then factory reset via recovery, then SPFT flash, immediate factory reset via recovery and finally a SPFT flash without reset. The hot spot issue was present each time the hot spot was detected the first time.

Overall, after the last flash, I was able to get randomly 48 hours continuously ON with about 3.25  SOT and also randomly getting on 3 hours SOT with the phone able to last only 20 hours where it will be left with under 20% battery as the phone never seems to be able to go to sleep. Sometimes rebooting in between helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Hopeful for software fix on the camera too. Issue of picture quality as reported by other users.

Cheers!

Edit - PS..I forgot to mention that the phone was setup as brand new after each reset/flash. Only messages were reinstalled via backup.

Hallo,

I have two questions :
1) will I lose all my date when I do the manual OTA update from Android 6 to 7.1.1?
2)will I receive OTA updates after this   because I read that if you update on the Beta 7.1.1 you won't receive any updates over OTA anymore?

Hallo,

I have two questions :

If you're going to do a manual update, why use the beta?

Even if there's a way to not lose your data, it's always prudent to back up your data (and move it out of the phone) in case it screw up.

Using the flash tool, from what I understand, if you uncheck user, you should not lose data (but please read the whole thread carefully, you do at your own risk)... But based on experience, every time I upgrade a major version of FW, I would start my phone fresh.. But that's personal preference...

Hi bencebacsi,

As far as I know, the developers cannot reproduce this issue on their own devices since it's related to specific SIM-cards. At least that's what I currently know. However, they don't obviously need to be able to reproduce an issue to find its reason.
If you're already using another phone as your daily driver, I suggest and sincerely ask you to test your Z Pro without SIM card and come back with your feedback.
I'm trying to get some useful info about it but I still don't know when an update with fixes will be released. Surely not more than a few weeks but generally, the more bugs to be fixed, the more time needed to be done.

Hallo,

I have two questions :

Hi,
No, you won't lose your user data and you'll still be able to receive wireless OTA updates. Updating via manual OTA update works as the same as via wireless OTA. It is an official (but cancelled) ROM here, not a beta version.
