Umi Z not charging using wallcharger

Hi guys, I received my phone early from dealextreme and have noticed it charges via standard usb connection 5v but when i go to plug it into the adapter via universal adapter it does nothing but light up red on icon, no lighting icon in the top corner. Could somebody please advise on this. I suspect faulty wall charger as the cable has no problem when plugged into any usb. I am converting a eu plug to australian via the stock adapter that came with phone
