NO is not the same OTA with SPFT,
if you see in the SPFT post write that:
''UMI Plus receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.''

i want the Official update!!!
and the problem is that OTA update ''Already ANNOUNCED from UMI'' 3 days Ago!!
The wait is over, get Android 7.0 on your UMi Plus right now!

if SPFT update was official will not write this, and you could update your phone via ROOTJOY who is the official PC program for UMI
and not with other part programms, because the Flash tool is for all Mediateck chipsets, and not Official UMI!!!
so Please don't try to tell all us that is the same!!!
The announcment for the OTA update, is FAR THE MOST FAKE unnouncment from UMI,
and the problem is that till today there is NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM UMI!!!

sirHow many have do this update???? 5-6??? ok they are computer experts, and already have and beta android 7 tested,
all the other wait the OTA update!!!
the last time i try to update MT phone have problem with the usb driver, and now the same problem!!!!!!
i use Win 10.1
i am not a computer expert to load the drivers!!! the SPFT is not official UMI program!!!!
if i try to do that update and my phone have problem, i have to send it fron Greece to China and stay without phone 2+ months!!!!!!! if the warranty cover me!!!!!!!

As you can see there is already so many umi plus users which updated devices in to android 7.0 with SPFT without any troubles.

To be honest, I feel trolled by this company...
UMI Plus was first presented as a flagship, then we noticed the mediocre camera and the unusable GPS....but we kept going...
...Then, they announced to have released the Nougat update...but no actual update was delivered or it is accessible by UMI PLUS users three days later...

I mean...UMI how much more do you think we can take of this?...

There's a wrong announcement. You have said that you publish Ota but We only have this secondary method. Do yoi think that all customers Can access to this update? This update is only for a Little part of Who buy this phone.

It is very unfortunate that UMI announced the update earlier than they could actually deliver.

It makes the company look bad.

Most people cannot and will not perform SPFT.

24 December is still an amazing deadline - I hope you guys can make it. The phone is brilliant and I still enjoy it the same.

You will not get any notification about Android 7.0 updates as this is not FOTA update. Main ROM change can't be done by FOTA only OTA or SPFT could handle whole ROM replacement.
