I have had similar problem, I found it was an app running most of the time in background, I removed said app and now is fine.
try uninstalling the last few apps if any you have installed since that weekend.

But you shouldn't be surprised as if you working hard you getting sweat too. Phones doesn't have cooling system as laptops, PC etc so heat can only be removed through to back body and lcd. This CPU is very strong which will generate more heat under load. This is nothing unusual.
