Hello,First of all, to add some background of the situation, I must say I'm one unhapy customer. Ive been working hard to be able to afford this phone, but it's one of the decision I regret the most, especially that it broke down after a month in a really stupid situation it should actually have survived. Basically what happened was that the screen cracked after a gentle slap on my knee. The dispay was still working though, but the digitizer was dead.
After more than a half year I decided to revive it. No local phone service wanted  to repair it, or prices have been high, so I decided to do it myslef, following the breakdown instructions from youtube. I spent 50 pounds on an original replacement screen. I did exactly the same thing things, carefully connecting everything, and now only the backlight on the display works, so it emits light, but there's nothing to see on the screen. Also the notification diode acts like it should. It's only that the display doesn't have an image on it.
What I wanted to ask is - is it possible that both the phone and the replacement displays are just crap and I've wasted my money on that? Or am I just missing something (like for example there's an isolation tape stuck to the connectors, which I haven't noticed and it blocks the circuit)? Any tips on that and how can I fix that?

First try to update your phone to the latest rom version (available here on this forum) if you have an old display and replaced it than it will only work with the latest roms versions.

But how can I update the ROM on a phone when I cant see anything on the screen? And is there any way to backup the data in this case? I guess updating the ROM is going to erase all of it

SPFT will not erase user data if you uncheck user data. This can be done if you already updated to android 7. Otherwise you should also wipe user data as you changing firmware versions.
Here is SPFT updating instruction

And here you have all available ROMs

Alright, I did what you wrote in the post and it worked. Almost.
The phone started up. The digitizer was working and all the stuff was visible on the screen, so I even managed to configure the account. However, I had some white vertical stripes on the display, and when I touched the screen in the right side, everything disappeared and doesnt show up again. I reinstalled the ROM and it let me see the boot screen for a second with these white stripes, then just went black. What is it and how do I fix that?

Edited by LeXuZ at 2017-6-11 17:13 \n\n Edited by LeXuZ at 2017-6-11 17:13 \n\n Edited by LeXuZ at 2017-6-11 17:11 \n\nI guess that the connection to the motherboard is loose. The one that goes under the battery is the one you have to check. This phone gets loose connections very easily (the same.happened to me but with the digitizer connection) thus before you close it  again turn it on and check if everything is working.
Also a complete new flash (erasing data) is a good option if you're coming from Android 6.

Well, this wasnt really helpful, connection was fine, I've been fixing it a couple of times.
One thing I didnt mention - the screen arrived without the frame, so I had to attach it to the old one. Ive noticed that when I press the bottom of the screen, the display blinks, so I checked the "root" of the screen connector if it's alright. I stuck some tape to that so that it doesnt move (the old screen had it taped), now the screen doesnt work at all.

Well i had to do the same (mine was also without frame). My screen also has the pressure waves defect. But for the rest it's working. If the firmware update doesn't work (to the latest rom) then I think it's a hardware defect.

I think nobody give you any type of guarantee that new screen will work with old firmware. Probably the best way will be ask directly seller for this.
