Hello,My UMI PLUS started presenting a bar written MTK Thermal Manager. Soon after the cell phone says it is very hot and needs to turn off soon after it turns off.* Can I disable this?* Does this message mean that the phone is defective?* If it is not defective do I need to perform a hard reset on it?

Definitely firstly you should perform factory reset. Then wait few days to see what is happening.

I've already accomplished that. I have already performed a downgrade to the V3.01_20161009 firmware through SPFT. But the problem persists. I think the temperature sensor is faulty. Does anyone know where I can buy the mainboard of this smartphone?

Sorry, I do not understand. But if you want to know if I bought on aliexpress, then no. I bought in the gearbest. I live in Brazil, the cost of shipping to make the guarantee does not pay. If the defect is not resolved, I will buy the motherboard on aliexpress.

If this doesn't work, you will have to get a replacement from where you purchased the phone.

I have a similar problems with an UMI TouchX. The Amazon seller offered me to send a new battery, I never received and now, after 6 month, phone is dead. As I live as well in Brazil and sending the fone to China and waiting for a repalcement would take over 3 month + P&H costs & 60% import tax over the new phone, not worse the trouble.
I loved the advanced configuration of the UMI cellphones, but definetly not worse the trouble you have if you need a replacement. Next one will be a BLÜ which have a representative in Brazil ==> local services.
