In other thread you have full explanation from bencebacsi.
Umi didn't get correct SDK which will support ddr4 dual channel 4Gb of RAM. They got only for ddr3 single channel and as you see android 7.0 is already released for those devices.

Mediatek will likely never give the tool for Android 7 for the spec that the Plus E has.
UMI probably had an agreement with MTK but they didn't fullfill it.
So I recommended buying a new one if he wanted Android 7 instead of waiting for it.
Personally I'm more than satisfied with my UMI Plus E (poor camera and battery percentage problems aside even though it still lasts more than 24h). I still highly recommend it, one of the best smartphones around, but you have to know a few (and not so important) issues.
