UMI Z first impressions.

I wanted fast phone for less money than for Samsung/Honor etc... and Im very satisfied with UMI. Though, Z has some issues, which hopefuly will be adressed in firmware updates soon.
1. MTK driver in Windows 10 didn't work for me. I downloaded MTK SP package from umigidi.com, but it was useless.
2. Bluetooth headset in my car does not work. My car has never had problems with any phone... Samsung, LG, Apple... all works just fine.  UMI Z only allows BT Media (for media playback) and Contact list synchronisation with car, but BT Headset - the most important part, does not work. I cannot enable it. This is a major FLAW !  I hope UMI will address it in firmware update !
3. Stock Photo/camera app is awful. Replace it.
4. Back of the phone is not magneticaly shielded. IF you have original UMI flip cover with built-in magnet and you open the cover and fold it all the way until it touches the back of the phone. Missing magnetic shield will cause phone to lock up, even though you want to work with it. This is really stupid design flaw.

Regardless of those flaws, it is a good phone for the money.

I just plugged my Z into my windows 10 computer, it was all normal windows saw it and asked me what to do about it, and i said open to let me se files on it.

Just like plugging in any thumb drive into my computer or card reader.

I have found a solution here in the forums.... just manually install MTK driver by selecting MTK USB driver.
It is working now.

Yeah saw that, just wondered how it would go so effortless here, only phone i have connected to my computer ever is the now dead 4 year old HTC 8S.

My win 10 is actually also a fairly fresh install, the SSD i had my OS on died, so i had to go get a new one for my OS about 2 months ago.

And i cant see any of the Novatek and ambarella cameras should have put the needed driver on my computer.

But its all well and good, the damn thing works and thats all i ask.

I tested it on two Win10 computers... Windows autodetected the phone, but installed wrong MTK Composite device driver. It can be fixed manually though. Phone worked ok, but switching between different USB modes on the phone (charging, USB storage, CDROM, MTK camera....) did not work properly everytime.

Every bug I found so far is really minor, not to worry too much about.... except the Bluetooth Headset in a car. This is really annoying.

I am pleased to confirm that the latest OTA update (Feb13) has fixed the bluetooth isssue with headsets.
