Hello guys, I am waiting delivery of that UMI Super smartphone, and i am asking myself why i bought it. As i read there are many problems like freezes, can`t power on,camera is very dark, fingerprint scanner, etc. So how is it using this phone in practise?
Do you use any custom ROM`s that have that issues fixed and juice the maximum of the hardware on that device. And what are UMI`s Devs doing on fixing those issues?
Cheers!

Read first, buy after. :-)
No, but seriously, if you're lucky, it will be a piece of gold, working very well in every respect, with great battery life, screen, finger print scanner and so-so camera. Like my Super.
Judging by all complaints, you may also en up with a lemon where not much work at all. On the other hand - This is the place where people with problems come, so don't judge the quality of the phone by reading posts here. You'll get a very biased view.

I have owned one since beginning of December.

I have never had a fingerprint reading phone before, maybe that is the reason, but I find it absolutely nice and fast. Sometimes if I put my finger to the reader in bad position, then it even reads it too fast, so it takes away a bit of time to retry it. I also use Glance Plus screen (coming from Windows Phone) that sometimes have to be double touched to get to the home screen, but this is not the problem of the HW.

I recommend to install Open Camera app. This could be fine tuned by me to a point from where I can make pretty nice pics, comparable to my Nokia Lumia 925. Also it is much faster, lag free, not like the stock camera app for me. I am a hobby photographer, maybe that is the reason why I feel it a bit less quirky.

GPS is not faulty in my phone, but really sensitive and I have to put it directly under the windshield, otherwise it gets jumpy, even 50m it can jump to a parallel street, which is utmost annoying. I have not experienced like that before with Nokia Lumia phones, I could even put them in the compartment, still they worked. I wish there was any method to improve that, but I am afraid this is either a crappy GPS module they installed in it, or the metal case blocks radio signals way too much.

All others are pretty good.

Should have come here first. I regret the day I laid eyes on the (not so) super. It arrived with problems but was useable. Now after several updates my phone is  full of annoying problems.
Been a long time since Umi released the last debilitating update. No signs of a fix. Umi concentrating on releasing new phones leaving us with this piece of crap. Never again Umi. Never again.

The phone gets hot,  yes,  when you use the bundled charger. I've read some recommendations to use that charger with moderation as it pumps the battery full fast (resulting in heat) but to rather use a 5V/1A charger when you're not in a hurry.
