I see a number of people are experiencing problems after upgrading to Android 7. Is it considered a good irea to factory-reset before accepting the OTA update??

Doesn't matter if you factory reset or not, i did the factory reset after upgrading, and my phone is stuck at the TWRP menu.

Before making any big update (like jumping from Marsmallow to Nougat ROM for example), you should wipe cache, dalvik cache, data and system. It's also a good idea to wipe your internal memory, or just delete the right files (don't ask me which ones, use your intuition).
I never had big problems when moving from one rom to another, and I tried tens of Roms in my life

Cheers! I was wondering if it was worth the risk, or just to leave the device on 6. Guess I will be getting the prompt to upgrade tomorrow...

Sorry, just noticed you want to upgrade via OTA, so if you don't plan to flash new firmware via TWRP or SPFT - just forget what I wrote I won't install Nougat straight away because it will give more pains than gains at the beginning. I've got a strange feeling that Nougat still isn't ready to be my daily driver ;)
