So my approach to this is a slightly different one. I got a silicone bumper with real bumpy round corners and testing it with an old phone, I could not hear any hard parts of the phone touching the surface of the desk I dropped it on couple times. It fits fine on the old 4.3" phone and needs to be stretched quite some to fit our 5.5", but sits very firm at the corners. Supposed to fit up to 6". Also the bumper sorta covers every single corner, at the sides pretty much perfectly bezel-wide; but it does need some diy adjustment (i can give ideas that work if anyone wants) so it doesn't wiggle and leave a gap when you put any pressure on the sides. Downside is that it covers up the fingerprint scanner but there might be (or ARE but some are ugly and I didnt look much into others) other variations of it that dont.
Mine has an integrated stand thing to comfortably watch movies. In resting mode it covers up camera, but flipping it (that works smoothly) frees it's view perfectly.
Here's a link just in case anyone's interested:

With this I can only assume the screen wont need the hardest protection anymore?
These are only a buck and the ones with kickstand actually look quite ok on my umi max. I bought tempered glass protectors before and I hated everything about them. They wouldnt stick at the sides as you guys mentioned a lot and the sensitivity or lack thereof drove me mad. It even felt like the sensitivity went all over the place, selecting things I didnt mean to select and so on. And it looked so ugly and made it hard too to read texts that start right at the border of the screen as the first letters would refract through the glass protector (as it's too narrow to cover both lit sides at the same time). The glass screen protectors were cheap and noname brand from france and I got a full refund after making enough of a fuss about it.
So now I'm trying to decide on what to put on the screen to avoid scratches on it. I found a sort of protector that I dont think was mentioned here before and also I could only find it on the German Ebay (but with international shipping) http://www.ebay.de/itm/2x-Mikvon ... :g:Z94AAOSw9GhYa3Ji (there are different ones for super/max, seems the 3 top cut outs are a little different. Either that, or I'm going mad. Is the speaker placed right in the middle or shifted to the left on super?
Just a thin film I suppose but might be enough. I like the idea of full coverage. I feel almost the same trying to find the proper protection as I felt grinding the search for a good phone.. all that indecisiveness, you feel me??
Either this or the Brotect airglass that was mentioned here before. Just that I got a bit insecure about the covered distance sensor and how much its misfunctioning would bother me. Norstadt any more input on it or a workaround? (idk if there's a way to link names a good way) And is it wide enough to cover the lit screen? Was a bit hard to tell from your pic since display was off. Speaking about it, let's upload some pics and show off that 1$ bumper that I like so much. Bear with me. No idea how this will turn out but sorry for bad quality, especially the last one was tricky to take with my 3D potato
Long story short, I let money win and bought the cheapest semi matte golebo pack. Hopefully gonna arrive by saturday so I can regret that decision.
edit: sry didnt mean to make those pics so big!
