Edited by peaso at 2016-7-20 00:12 \n\nBesides poor GPS reception and Camera quality (hope it will get better in the future updates, even Bluboo Picasso for 60 bucks is on par with its 5 MPix sensor) the biggest dissapointment is a built quality. I have bought the Umi Super to write a review on my website, but the unit I have recieved is worst then a beta testing sample. This is my first Umi, and only after few weeks I can say its also my last one.
Most of the issues are connected with its display, right after the first powering on I have noticed a very visible display burn. About 1 cm long white mark in the lower left corner, but it wasnt that bad so I said to myself its OK, such things can simply happen and this phone is relatively cheap. The second problem right at the start was, that phone did not push notifications (f.e. I did not recieve messages from Messenger when phone was in a sleep, I tweaked the settings and apps for a days), luckily this was fixed in the latest OTA update. About only one week of using the problems with the display continues - the "ring" around the perimeter of display has appeared, as I have seen, there are many users complaining about the same problem. The colours are shifted in that area, probbably the layers of display itself are peeling off. Its not caused by humidity or anything else, it just appeared one day. Few days later the white burned areas grow bigger and more into the middle of the screen. Best of all, today, the left side of the covering glass has decided to go out of the body. It is peeling off or something, and there is about one milimeter wide crack at the left corner of the screen. And I almost forgot, the last 15% of battery does not even exist, or the estimate of the left charge is ubelievably inaccurate.
Im using Super for about three weeks now, I have never dropped it, its not even scrached, it does not suffer from humidity. Its just slowly dismantling itself or something. Im so happy I did not apply the protection glass I have ordered yet. What a waste it would be... I have tried few asian smartphones by Ulefone or even Bluboo and its hardware and software was far better then Umi Super. I would like to believe that I was only unlucky and got the wrong unit, but from what I have seen on forums, there are so many complaints. I know, this is not a 800 USD flagship, but for 200 USD I would expect something that will hold together for at least one year. I really liked the Super, but now I wish I have waited a week or two for Vernee Apollo. I just cant imagine what will happen next, stay tuned in
EDIT: just a little update - the crack is growing bigger and it shows up even on the other side.. See attached pics. The fingerprint scanner seems to descent and now there is a little space between it and the back cover. My guess is that the battery inside is extending or something, and it pushes on the display. Hope it wont blow up in my hands.. Oh, and regarding the camera..use some free camera app from the Google Play, everything works better than the stock app.
