I just tried this out and here are my findings:
The EM's picture are unprocessed. No sharpening, edge enhancement, lens shading correction etc.
So you get a "smoother" pictures because of this. As a side effect also the edges will be smoother, not as sharp as on the processed picture.
Also you can see that the camera is doing lens shading correction because in EM there is a lot more lens shading/coloring.
They could fine tune this to make it better.
