For the past months, always using the original charger that came with the device, I had been ignoring a warning that appeared sometimes on the screen, which said that the voltage of the charger was high. But when I unplugged the cable and plugged in again, the warning disappeared and the phone charged normally, so I never paid much attention, I thought it was some random Android mistake.
But today, when picking up the phone, the USB plug (which was in the device) was EXTREMELY hot. After unplugging the cable, the phone had a smell of burning on the USB port and immediately I turned the phone off (not the screen, the device completely).
After a while, letting the phone cool down, I turned it back on and it worked apparently perfect. I tested the same (original) charger and it did not charge. The heat quickly began to return on the cable, as did the smell on the phone USB port.
I tested another cable (which I used to charge in the car), with the same wall plug (UMI original). It also did not work.
Finally, I tested with a Samsung wall plug, and the phone recharged normally and no other problems ocurred until then.
There is no doubt that the problem was in the UMI charger, which came with the phone. Certainly a poorly made, poor quality accessory.
PS: The original UMI cable is apparently working fine, just the wall plug that does not. But, afraid of the UMI accessories, I decided not to use the original cable anymore.
