Edited by richy150 at 2015-7-10 19:22 \n\nI purchased a UMI Hammer in the UK. GPS is no good for in car navigation. On open roads it jumps around between the actual position and nearby roads. On tree lined roads and near tall buildings it often loses GPS fix completely. I have the phone mounted on car windscreen and have tried Google Maps and the Nokia "HERE" maps and navigation.
UMI's advertisment claims "Separate GPS receiver for a more accurate position".  The GPS on my phone is unfit for purpose.
Will this be fixed by software update? Do all UMI Hammer's have the same problem? Should I return the phone for exchange or refund?

I tested and it works for me.
The solution for jumping gps was for me to use only gps fpr positioning.
No mobile, no wlan positioning.

I had the same problem with the Lollipop update.

Everytime I´m using Android 5.1 the GPS fix get lost and isn´t exact.

This procedure fixed the problem:
1. Downgrade to Android 4.4.4
2. Install "Mobileuncle Tools"
3. Enable "GPS Set" in Mobileuncle Tools", you find it in "Power GPS Search"
4. Install"Faster GPS"
5. Configure the NTP-Server in FasterGPS - the first two items.

This solves my problems with the GPS fix and the accuracy, but I don´t know if it solves your problems, you will do it at your own risk.

Hi Loser72. Thank you for your answer.
My Hammer is on the stock Android 4.4.4  I never updated to Lollipop.
I tried your solution. It does not help.
The GPSTest app ( from google play) show a quick fix and good accuracy. It is only when I use the Hammer for actual in car navigation that the problems show.

Hello,
try downloading the GPS app "gps essentials" and, among other, try to calibrate the compass.

I have same problem. Its a BIG problem!!
Android 4.4.4 does not solve the problem.
GPS is useless and a phone with non working GPS is piece of crap only.
UMI, you solve it? How fix GPS?

Hello,

I found this tips for a more efficient GPS antenna , according to the fact it needs to open the phone:
