Connecting to PC not working??

I hook up the USB cable to my Windows10 laptop but my UMI Z is NOT being recognized.
What am I missing here?

Check in device manager is there unknown device if so assign driver to it.

Found a fix for the MTP Device problem.
Make sure the usb cable is connected to phone and computer and the phone is unlocked.
Go to the C:\Windows\INF folder
In the search box (top right hand side) type wpdmtp and right click on the wpdmtp.inf file and click install
This should fix the problem. It will not work unless you have the phone connected to the USB port and the phone switched on and unlocked.

Yeah i found out too that the phone need to be unlocked.

How you might ask ?

Well yesterday i got so pissed about this that i wiped my C drive and did a clean install of with 10 and the video edeting software thats all i have on my C drive.

And that got my Z connected to the computer alright, BUT ! i was not able to see anything on the phone before unlocking it, and then i could see internal and SD card in the phone.

As in 9 out of 10 times i reinstall my OS, i forgot to save the damn bookmarks in my browser
