I bought a Umi max from Tom Top in September 2016, in December the speaker stopped working completely, the headphones work fine when plugged in but no sound on the phone depite resetting the phone! I have read a couple of blogs on here and it would seem I might need a new speaker, the only problem is TomTop have never responded to any of my 4 emails?? Help!!

This looks like be hardware fault as you mentioned that headset is working correctly. Please perform factory reset (settings - backup and reset - factory data reset) and test again.
I know that this is not right but you can look on aliexpress for spare parts. Maybe then reseller offer for you partially refund to cover speaker and your time cost.
