Hello Umi folks, my Umi Plus was upgraded to Nougat 7.0 via regular wifi notification (it was Marshmallow android). The whole upgrade process was fine and now the version is UMI PLUS .V3.01_20161209. The phone is working fine, excet for the fact the virtual keyboard was replaced by Google voice without any action on my part. Wherever I would need to type anything, the Google voice appears and it doesn't work. I tried to manage Input Method/Virtual Keyboard but no success - Google Voice Typing is the only option available, it says it is in " automatic" mode.I just can't type anything in my phone, please help me how to get rid of this problem. I can't even redo fingerprint sensor caption, because my password is needed and I just can't type it.

Thanks,  Tamber.

Hi,I performed the factory reset and Nougat was restored in my Plus, it's all working fine now. Too bad I had to reinstall/configure lots of apps, but fortunately Google app helps with that.
Thanks!

I have exactly the problem, so after reading this thread, I tried to do Factory Reset Data, BUT I can't even do that becuase again the keyboard is GONE and only Google Voice is visible and doesn't respond to any input.
I also lost all of my custom setup screens, the phone has literally already done a full reset and wiped all my settings.
I'm not very happy becuase now my phone DOESN'T work as it should. It was perfect before Android Update.
What is wrong, please help. Or tell me how to roll back to previous version. Or re-issue a fixed update please.

I suggest you to perform a factory data reset from recovery. You can do it by following the instructions below.

1. Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less.
2. When your phone is restarted, immediately release the power button but still hold the vol-up button until you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy.
3. Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
4. Move to ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ and select it.
5. On the next screen move down to 'Yes...' and select it. Now your phone will be reset to its factory settings and reboot.

Thank-you I followed the instructions and keyboard is now working and apps restored from the play store.
However I'm still not happy loseing all my custom settings and having to go through all this procedure for a simple Operating System update.
How come lots of other people don't have the problem? Only myself and one other man on this forum!!!

Hi,
I had the same problem which was solved by going to Playstore and installing a keyboard then when you go to Settings - Language & Input you then get the original keyboard choice - weird I know. My issue is I updated to Ver 7 rom and cant find caller id setting as my calls always show as private number!
