Edited by AndyLovesFuzz at 2017-7-10 23:00 \n\nI wanted to post this in the Z1 forum but the administrator hasn't allowed posting in that forum yet.

I bought a Z pro and the screen cracked, so I replaced it with another Z pro but this one arrived with a faulty battery. It eventually bricked itself and Amazon had run out of Z pros, so I ordered a Z1.

My Z1 arrived today. I expected it to be an upgrade, but I'm not entirely sure.

  • The CPU is different (see comparison) but I haven't noticed any speed difference yet.
  • My Z pro is running Android 7.1 but the Z1 is still on 7.0 at the moment.
  • The rear cameras on the Z1 are noticeably worse. I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue. I took a photo outside in broad daylight and the quality was terrible. Zoom in to see:

If the camera issue is not resolved then I think I'll have to send back yet another phone

Here's an example of the battery issue. I hardly used the phone all day and it went down to 37%. I used the phone for 24 minutes and the battery went down to 23%.

I managed to get my old Z Pro working again somehow, so I was able to compare the cameras side by side:

Z pro:

Z1:

I am actually really interested in getting a thinner Z Pro, but I wonder, why it doesn't seem like an upgrade.
Thanks for the comparisson!

Edited by AndyLovesFuzz at 2017-8-2 23:22 \n\nI've attached benchmarks so you can get a better idea of what's what. The Z1 is slower than the Z Pro in general (slower CPU, slower memory), but has much faster read/write access. Having used both, I haven't noticed one being faster than the other.

My Z1 kept crashing every time I enabled bluetooth which made it unusable for me, so I bought a 3rd Z pro. All three Z pros have had a similar issue where the battery drains in under a day without me really using the device. My Z1 on the other hand lasts two days with constant use.

To be honest I think I'm going to send them all back and use a different brand. All the phones I've had have been so close to being great, but with one or two small things letting them down.

There is update available fixing screen colours temperature and camera optimization. 2017/06/27. Please update and test again!
Also please send pictures to PC or directly to TV etc and compare on same screen but not on phone screen.

I am already using this version on my Z Pro, although I had to update manually because the OTA updater doesn't find any new versions. I do not have any camera issues on my Z Pro and it does not help the battery issue.

Battery drain is still a big problem.
Also the current update (UMIDIGI_Z_Pro.V7.01_20170710) has not improved anything.

On the way to work (about one hour) I use Waze.
My UMI Super (4000 mAh) has consumed about 12-13% battery.
My UMIDIGI Z Pro (3780 mAH) consumes about 25-30% battery.

The battery is only minimally smaller, but consumes twice as much power.
What is the reason for that?

That's essentially the issue I'm having. Even leaving my Z pro on my desk with the screen off and no running apps uses about 5% of the battery per hour.
