ive had my Umi plus E for about 8 weeks now and IMO i absolutely love it. I switched from an Iphone 6s Plus to Umi plus E ( yeah you read that right)  and i will give reasons why.long story short i have finally rooted it, and got rid of those ugly status bar icons and stock icons and customised it to my preference. I just wanted to share my two pence after reading all posts on the Nougat update delay.

Have we been sold short? Maybe. Do i have to whine about it persistently? Absolutely not! I live in Kenya -( East Coast of Africa - Home of Safari- Google it) and it amazes me that people are not content with what they got. I genuinely understand why some may want the 7.0 update on their phones like yesterday.. i get it. I want it too. What bothers me is the Sense of Entitlement that some users think they deserve. how much does it cost remind me ...$300 tops inclusive shipping in my case. So the question is did you get value for money - Absolutely Yes IMHO. Life's not Fair- Get used to it. why not make the most of what you got. Maybe my perspective is a bit skewed being from a Third world country and all. I might never get used to  the "First World Problems" but why not try some positive vibe man! Its not the End of the world .. You have a decent (sic) piece of tech in your hands with some killer specs. Might as well rock it , if you know what i mean.

And yeah Gave my younger bro the 16 gig of Iphone 6s that i couldnt stand because of storage issues and i Finally got to my senses and chose to go with a Decent phone with 64 gig man and expandable storage over some BRAND i thought i belonged to but didnt suffice my us

These are my pics of the android stock rom v0505 i think with Xposed framework running and gravitybox to sup it up.
My two cents..peace.

NO AFFILIATION TO UMIDIGI OR UMI WHATSOEVER..JUST ANOTHER BLOKE WHO BOUGHT THE PHONE. GLAD TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY.

What people needs to understand, is that we are all, more or less satisfied with the device itsef considering its specs and price.
What we are complaining about is the false advertisment made about this device (camera quality, ID sensor quality, updates...guys, you took our hard earned money cause we trusted your words ! and yes, even in our opulent and rich countries, buying a new device is something important for lots of us) and about the fact that we feel cheated.
When someone promises you and guarantees you something, you expect him to deliver it in a timely manner. Be it umi responsibility or MTK responsibility is none of our concern. UMI promised something that they are not able to deliver. And what is worse, is that they keep promising things, though they perfectly know they are nowhere close to be able to deliver it. This is what these "complaining" and "pestering" is all about.

You save some money. You buy something, based about the nice talk of the seller or builder, that promises you lots of things about what you are buying. Then you realise 6 monthes later that 1/ what you have bought is far from being as nicely performing as the seller told you, and 2/the builder or seller keeps promising he will repair or upgrade some of the issues or parts of what you've bought, being perfectly aware he is not able to do so.
What would you think, man ? Would you kepp smiling to him, saying "yeah, peace, your doing great" ? of course these issues are the tiniest in one's life. But still, this is not something respectful of people.

I just had to sign up to reply to this.

HOW DARE YOU?? Accusing me of being entitled because i expect to get what the product said it is? I was LIED to and you're here defending this? I literraly wouldn't have bought it if i knew i couldn't get 7.0. There are a ton of other phones out there, it's not either a super expensive iphone or this.

I like the phone but i'm never gonna ever buy another umidigi phone because i simply can't trust what they say. Good thing for them they have clients willing to not only put up with lies, but are here defending them and insulting consumers that expect what they pay for.

Amaxamed,
People who buy UMIDIGI or most chinese brands are somewhere techno-fans. More concerned by technology and specs that the standard mainstream customer.
Thus, we are perfectly aware of the usual marketing-oriented behaviour, photoshoping pictures, editing and improving photos taken, literary license and so on. Brands you quoted are doing it, but they both have software and harware that goes at par with it. Speaking of cameras, Samsung and Apple for instance, are worldly acknolewdged as great devices to take pics with.

I personally checked reviews before buying my Plus E. I knew that camera was average. But I assumed, as most users, that harware being of good quality, it could be improved by an update, initiated by customers feedback.
Same for other bugs and issues faced. UMIDIGI may claim every now and then that their supoprt is great, but then how come forum is filled with users complaining about the same issues, again, and again ?
Once more, topic is not if device is a bargain or not. Topic is not if quality vs price is good or nit. Indeed IT IS !
Topic is a company that keeps promising things and don't fullfill it. If you don't plan to deliver it, or if you aren't sure whether you will be able to deliver it, don't promise it ! exactly like with a child. otherwise your customers will be frustrated, disapointed, and will start to be feeling cheated, whatever the quality of your product is.

Then let me not agree with your statement "you get what you pay for".
Your quoted brands, apple and samsung are the best examples. You may perfectly find similar quality and specs devices for half the price. With adequate support and bugs free. Xiaomi, Huawei, HTC, ZTE, OnePlus all chines, btw...
A few years ago, google and LG launched the nexus 4. Then nexus 5 . Then OnePLus hit the market. Those were true flagship killers, with a very low price and high end specs and devices running smoothly and bugfree.

Edited by chance at 2017-6-1 22:46 \n\nMy opinios as well. Better phone I have not been yet in my hands. And this is not joke. Switched from iPhone 5 and Zenfone 2 551ML. I didnt find any problems, no with battery, no with BT and never seen so optimized ROM like UMIDIGI Plus E V3.02_20170216 ROM

Would agree with you for 100%  Iam maybe first and last person who do not want to see Android 7 on this phone as I do not believe will be so great and optimized like Android 6.0.1 is .

exactly. Seeing all issues with other devices that ota 7.0, I would gladly stick with 6.0.1. A few efficient and focused updates would be nice, though, like security patch, 6 monthes old now...

Firstly, I want to offer my sincere apologies people I might have rubbed the wrong way with my earlier post It wasn’t my intention neither was it to condemn users having issues with their devices. After all ,this is what the forum was created for.

Just for the record I am not Defending Umi for misleading users in their Ads. As a matter of fact they aren’t the first ones to use that tact in pushing sales of their devices. Both Apple and Samsung have been slapped with law suits in the past for the same. The former accused of false claims of their devices having 16 gb storage when in fact the os used up a fraction and users are left with slightly over 13 gb.
Decision making in buying a smartphone is varied , some prefer the Cam, others storage or performance. But as a whole, the aggregate of this factors leads to the final decision. No phone is perfectly tailored to individual needs. A compromise often has to be made. ( im not saying that the compromise has to be the camera or a software update- both are valid).

Smartphone brands are known to have massive budgets for marketing their products. Some might take literary license in their ads. I normally don’t buy  their stories instead watch honest reviews on youtube ( yes there are some generally good ones out there). Matter of fact I learnt that the camera was average. For the money you are paying for the phone, it is advisable to make an informed decision. I admit the 7.0 update might have been a laying it a bit thick for consumers considering the time it has taken and very misleading.

That said I think everyone is entitled to an opinion and I firmly stick by mine. I think I  have a bargain on my hands, all factors considered. In  life, you  generally  get what you paid for. Flagships of major brands are expensive for a reason.

*BOTH LOWERCASE AND UPPERCASE ARE perfectly legible!*
