i have problem with my umi z phone within 1 week of my purchase. The fingerprint sensor/home button has stopped working. I tried factory reset and reboot, but it still doesn't work. Any idea how to fix the problem?

Enter the service menu by entering *#*#33#*#*, single test->Key and try all the keys including the home button. If the home button is not responding then it is most likely a hardware issue and you should RMA the phone, unless you want to use the touch buttons only.

@GamingMonster - I am not affiliated with UMi in any way. I have purchased the phone just as you and others. I don´t understand what you expect the moderators to tell you. They cannot see the phone, they can´t test it. Either it´s a software issue that can be fixed or it is a hardware problem and the phone should be RMA´d.

If you didn't drop phone or "flood" device you should start from performing factory reset (settings - backup and reset - factory data reset)
Next step will be flashing complete ROM
Here is SPFT instruction

And here all available ROMs

I used service menu - Key Test
Go to phonecall and type in ;
*#*#33#*#*  then press call

The button is dead, I flashed it also.

I thought i had it fixed earler, by updating to latest ROM, it did work for a while until i ROOTED it again.

So I came across a fix for the s7 which has a similar issue, it fucking WORKED!
This was on a fresh restore \ Pro Z Android 7 \ no root

Download the zip from this page and RUN:  Fingerprint_Fix.bat from within the zip file.

You will need usb debugging ON, then plug in the phone first and ACCEPT usb debugging permission on PHONE.
Then you are ready to run the fix

I will try to root again
