G = GPRS  link here  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Packet_Radio_Service
E = EDGE link here   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Data_Rates_for_GSM_Evolution

Both of them are 2G networks, little bit faster is EDGE
