Question for Umi and Admin: Kernel Source three and code

I have a question which i've seen many Devs that make Roms on XDA complained about. I used to create Roms for Samsung devices (Galaxy S5 and Note 4)

Because Umi don't share open sources and their Kernel is a mystery to the world i would like to ask if there's a reason for this? Why won't Umi share the kernel three? I won't even bother to make any Roms for the Umi super without this functionality since this give very limited ways to tweak and customize the created rom. (This actually effect us as users of these Umi devices.)

I noticed that it's mostly Chinese OEMs that have this secrecy to their kernels which is beyond my comprehension, why are the Chinese so tight with sharing open source?

Would be interesting to hear from any of the Admins and see if they could shed some light to this mystery.

It would be fun to create Roms for Umi devices, the hardware inside the phones have so much potential that now is very limited due to the way Umi make this a very unpleasant experience for us Devs.

MTK is not the problem here. I give you an example. The elephone 9000 sports a heilo p10 chipset just like umi super and their kernel tree is open for DEVS, which ultimately means the ROM community for that phone is far greater than it is for Umi super. The DEV that started the CM rom for umi and now the linage OS is struggling to make a few functions on the rom to work since there is no way to change the kernel.

I think the problem lies with Mediatek, who's famous for not releasing the source code. Until the chip manufacturer releases their source code, the phone manufacturer doesn't have much to release.

How could umi make a device without the kernel source work?

Just like I thought. If umi would release sources there would be a greater community and far better roms. Maybe they will realise it somehow.

I was just searching for the kernel source for umi super and realised, that umi didn't release it.

First reason to release the source for the kernel ist the gpl license, which says if you use the linux kernel and publish a product with it you need to publish your source.

Second reason to release the source is to get more people involved and draw attention to the device because of a bigger community.

I would really like to develop a rom for the Umi Super, but without the kernel sources it is nearly impossible, if the os needs kernel modifications.

No feedback at all? Geez we are just trying "to make umidigi great again". What is the logic of not providing source code?

I totally agree with all of you guys.  I have been looking for anyone with a custom rom since i pondered ordering my super.  I've never put anything i've found on my phone because they are all broken in some way that is unacceptable.  I think it's awsome that there are actually active members here willing to take it upon them selves to fix the problems with the new roms as they come out. It's totally lame that you guys at Umi won't send out the source.  I know somebody is in the back room looking at the code running down thier screen thinking ahh if i only knew what to do with this.  Copy it to a flash stick go home log into tor and email it to someone else that knows what they are doing. Thats what you do buddy. Oh Oh think of a kool handle for your name. Then go about your day as if nothing happened.  Any way thanks guys for putting it out there for umi to see and makaveli I saw in another post about nougat you were trying to  code your own rom.  Props Thanks dude.

Its like they're def or something. Dig your grave Umi. Or let the community help for gods sake. Doesnt seem to be a hard choice.
