To answer this question, we put side by side the latest effort of Apple, the iPhone 7 Plus and latest product of a Chinese brand, the UMi Plus.

Before proceeding further, let’s have a brief look at the specs of bothdevices:

-  Apple iPhone 7 Plus was launched in September 2016. The phone comeswith a 5.5-inch Retina touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080x1920pixels with a 401PPI pixel density.

As far as the cameras are known, the Apple iPhone 7 Pluspacks a 12MP primary camera on the back and a 7MP front shooter for selfies.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus runs iOS 10 and is powered by a 2900mAhnon-removable battery. It has an aluminum body and measures 158.20 x 77.90 x7.30 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 188 grams.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts aNano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G.

- UMi Plus was launched the very same day as the iPhone 7, in September2016. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch touchscreen, SHARP display with aresolution of 1080x1920 pixels with a 401PPI pixel density.

On paper, the 847€ difference doesn’t appear to be so evident looking atthe specs, does it? But let’s see what happens when putting them side-by-side.
Instead of benchmarks, we wanted to do some real-life usage tests, becausewe believe people want to see how their potential phone would behave in mostcommon operations instead of seeing some numbers which probably would meannothing to them.

So, in this very specific speed test, we focused on the opening speed ofvarious apps, that's usually determined by system optimization, quality of thehardware parts (processor, RAM type and speeds, type and speed of the storagememory and so on) and the platforms these apps are more optimized for.

So, we opened the gallery on both devices, and they were on par. The samehappened with Maps and with the Browser.

iPhone 7 Plus managed to get slightly better loading times when shootingpictures and opening games.
Honestly, we were quite surprised because we didn’t expect, the UMi Pluscould match the iPhone 7 Plus in some of these operations, considering theenormous price difference and the fact that IOS fits Apple’s devices like aglove, that are way more optimized than the Android ones.

So, here comes our video:

We believe those emerging Chinese brands are reasonably shaking the market. With €177 you are able to buy a phone which looks like a flagship, feels like aflagship and performs almost as THE flagship.

Do you need to fork out that extra money to buy the best smartphone on themarket? It really depends on your needs but a phone like the UMi Plus - weanalyzed - was capable to do everything we demanded, without any issues.Sure, the camera on iPhone 7 Plus has a better quality but you may effortlesslybuy a good DSLR with the price difference and do some real professional shoots, that no smartphone is able to achieve. So, we can state that, theprice/quality ratio of the UMi Plus is impressive, you are able to save anserious amount of money without having to compromise your user experience.
