I have had my UMI super for a month now.. all updates installed and I have to say I LOVE this phone.

however, my device suddenly developed a fault with the touchscreen, after searching google about this, it seems it is a common fault!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT-qukXMeYE

this video on you tube is the exact same problem i have! (and other owners too looking at the comments)

I have reflashed my device to earlier roms, have tried installing SGS touchscreen booster (as suggested in other posts on the forum)

and the fault still exists!

I am not happy about this.

is it a hardware proble (do the parts degrade over a short period?)

come on UMI, please explain.

I have purchased 3 UMI touch for myself and family so far, and decided to upgrade to the SUPER because i believed UMI to be a quality manufacturer.

I doubt i will bever buy another UMI product again if this cannot be resolved.

Did you try to turn off 3G and 4G?
Better try to leave the phone in 2G, usually this helps with this problem.

Why don't you just give it a try?
I'm serious, this usually helps. It looks that it's a kind of interference with the antennas which are in the upper part of the phone. So, turning to 2G usually helps for this problem.

Well.. I actually tried it (and rebooted)

Nope, still ghost touches, still menubar dragging itself down randomly.. Back button on physical button (at the bottom) registers as a .

I would guess that a resistor or something similar has blown.. After only a few weeks use, pretty poor if you ask me.

Okay... so if anyone is having a similar problem to this... i've found something that helps..

I originally bought a tempered glass protector for it and had to remove ti because it chipped at the edges (it wasnt an exact fit)

the proble was at its very worst without any screen protector present.. I've just fitted a plastic screen protectr (just a plastic film)
and it has reduced the problem a lot.

I will play around with the settings in engineer mode to see if i can eliminate it completely

perhaps the screen is sensitive to static etc..

it's not an ideal situation but it will have to do.

So my advice:
for users:
make sure there is some sort of screen protector present.. make sure the screen is free of drt/grease and static (anti static wipes)

for UMI:
either change supplier for better quality touchscreens.. or thoughroughly test the hardware and make changes via FOA if possible

thanks
