Edited by JVitor at 2016-8-15 04:34 \n\nNote: these comparisons refer to software version Super v3.01_20160708. At the time of this edition, there is a new software version, v3.02_20160810. Update your smartphone and feel free to continue updating this thread. Thanks.

Hello guys! I have done a simple comparision of a picture take with UMI C1, which has a Sony IMX179 sensor, with a picture taken with UMI Super, which has a Panasonic MN34152 sensor. The picture was taken with the default auto options, without flashlight, and in the same lighting conditions.

See the results (click on the picture to enlarge it):

The original pictures can be downloaded with the following links:

Comparison between Cubot Cheetah (Samsung S5K3M2) and UMI Super (Panasonic MN34152), in open air, during sunset:

Comparison with Ulefone Vienna by the Ulefone staff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Bj0WXexEE

In my modest opinion, there is definitely something wrong with UMI Super camera. It does have a better resolution than UMI C1 8mp camera, but UMI C1 and Cubot Cheetah colors are better.

Added another comparision with Cubot Cheetah, during sunset, in the first post. I cannot compare with Ulefone Vienna, as I don't have it. But there is this good job done by the Ulefone staff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Bj0WXexEE

Good pictures need a combination between hardware and software. Hardware is the easiest part. Buy a good camera and then your costs is just initial purchasing. The software is trickier, but usually you get the basic software from Panasonic and you have to do integration between the SoC and the camera. Sadly with Umi Super this is not done properly. You can check out Ulefone Vienna that has the same camera as Umi Super, but the pictures are way better with Vienna.

Umi Super With Snap Camera: https://onedrive.live.com/?authk ... %214950&o=OneUp

Maybe not is the umi hardware problem, is a software problem.

Edited by SUPER-USER at 2016-7-27 15:50 \n\n Edited by SUPER-USER at 2016-7-27 15:47 \n\nOne of the reasons why I have decided for the UMI Super, was the promised camera.
The photos on the UMI website look great and I expected that I can make great pictures with the UMI Super.
Unfortunately, the reality is very different.
The photos of the main camera have improved since the last update.
The colors have become more realistic.
Unfortunately, they are still very blurred for a 13MP camera.
After the big promises of the website I expected more.

Super high-speed camera
From selfies and group shots to food photography, capture precious memories as images and video, wherever you go.
People increasingly take more pictures than calls on their phone,
and UMi Super incorporates the very latest in camera technology from Panasonic to enhance your photography experience.
It's blindingly quick-quick to activate, quick to focus and quick to take the shot.
And with its combination of robust design and cutting-edge hardware and software, it's the perfect on-the-go travel companion.

Autofocuses in 0.3 seconds
Most smartphones require 0.6 to 0.8 seconds to focus-that's critical time lost when you're shooting on-the-go.
But UMi Super features an advanced closed-loop focus system which is much faster than conventional solutions.
Traditional autofocus systems need to move the lens through its whole focal range to determine the point of focus.
But the closed-loop system can communicate the motor location to the focusing system.

Shoot first, Focus later
Blurry photos? Not a problem! Now you can adjust the focal point even after you've taken the photo with Magic Focus.
This allows you to switch the area of focus in the photo from one object to another retrospectively.
Depth of field and bokeh effects can also be adjusted afterwards. With unlimited possibilities, it's time to get creative.

Hit a moving target

Tracking autofocus locks on to fast-moving objects
Whether you're shooting at a sports event or tracking a moving animal, how do you capture fast movement on your phone?
With Touch-To-Track technology, it's simple. Long press to select and lock on to the object you wish to track.
UMi Super will then automatically adjust the focal point and calculate the exposure.
It's a function you might previously have found only in professional cameras but with UMi Super, it's right there in your pocket.

Adjust exposure settings instantly
As professional as it is simple
The UMi Super camera includes a number of advanced features,
such as the option to fine-tune the exposure value (EV) directly in the camera app after tapping on your point of focus.
Select from 12 presets and tailor the brightness and shadow settings to your liking.
There's no learning curve with UMi Super-it's simple and intuitive.

The front camera is completely useless.
The images are very dark and absolutely blurry.

5MP front camera Beauty mode with 36 smart filters
Let Beauty mode determine the best of 36 smart filters to enhance your selfies, giving you an all-natural glow.
It selects the most suitable filter based on your age and gender,
providing a subtle enhancement that will make all the difference to your pictures.

Dear UMI team, what are your next steps?
How will you solve these problems?
Do you WANT to solve these problems
or do you let your customers with the big promises and poor camera alone?

I have done a comparison between stock camera and snap camera, but there is practically no difference:

The photos on the UMI website look great and I expected that I can make great pictures with the UMI Super.

The same here. If I knew my UMI C1 could make better pictures, I wouldn't even have ordered UMI Super in the first place.

It seems though that it's a software related issue, probably because of their emphasis on short time exposure, etc. If for instance, the "Beauty" filter is applied the pictures get more beautiful, even though still not as vivid as UMI C1.

I will a further comparison in open air with sunny, bright light and post here.
