Display cracked even tough I used original UMI Touch case.

for the 1st time ever in seven years (bought my 1st smartphone in June 2009) the display of a smartphone cracked on me after I accidently dropped it even though it was installed in a proctective case.
I used the original UMI TOUCH protective TPU case for the UMI Touch and the protective glass on it. Yesterday I dropped it and if probably dropped directly there where the protective case does not wrap around the phone (it has open gap on the top and on the bottom of the phone). The display of the phone cracked on the top, the protective glass didn't. All other cases I usually buy for the smartphones are completely wrapped around and, as mentioned, never experienced any cracked displays.
Half of the display doesn't work anymore though. The upper part of the display (where the crack is) still responds, the lower part doesn't anymore. So I can't even use the phone because I can't login. I opened a claim with the extra warranty I purchased with the phone but the claim was rejected due to the crack.

I hope that there is still something that can be done. Especially if the protective TPU case would completely wrap around the phone, protecting all edges of it, this could have been avoided.

I am sorry, but you have bad luck

I dropped mine like 3-4 times (not proud) but nothing broke at all.
