hi to all happy Umi SUPER's users,

trying to flash my new UMI SUPER with the new ROM avalible on the UMI site (with an USB cable), I bricked the smartphone.

No more start screen, no more emergency restart sequence with "up volume + power"

Is anybody knows how to start the mobile in this situation ?

Thanks a lot

Hello,
if my experience can be used: in my case, I followed some advices on Android forums. The first is knowing that Android smartphone is never software-briked but only hardware-briked (short circuit, fall ...). The second is knowing that Android has provided in its core a low communication layer that operates in an extreme situation. This layer allows you to interact with the PC the smartphone (via SPFTools) even if it is switched off.

So, in my case, after my Super UMI has turned into a ghost loop and the battery was finally emptied, I reconnected to the PC with SPFtool and I succeeded the flash.

Maybe you should go through the step "Erase memory" if your error message indicated a problem with the "NAND". Then, you flash the ROM on "Download" mode (I unchecked "data user") and you're on again.

I finish this post by saying that I have tested many models manufactured in China. The Super UMI is really a great machine.

Bye

Dear panic31,

Please, let us know which SPFT version you flashed (with a link to the page that you used for downloading).
did you get a big, green checkmark at the and of the flashing process?
Even if your flashing attempt was unsuccessful. you can repeat it any times, just use the right resources and a reliable PC and USB connection.

Regards,
Bence

Dear Moderator,

thanks for your reply

this is the link I used: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-3512-1-1.html

First time, I tried only the "Download" function. Ok, It was done

Second time, I tried the "Firmware uprgade". In this case, no green flag, but a red one "Error ...... (don't remember what)"

It's impossible to try again because the device doesn't turn power-on and the PC doesn't recognize it any more.

The USB câble was the original one delivered inside the box.

On some forums I seen that sometimes an emergency power-on is possible with an extra-sequence using buttons

Any idea ?

Thanks again.

me again,

when in doubt, I tried again to flash the UMI.

it works in "Download" but fails to "upgrade firmware" mode. The error message is shown in the picture attached.

BUT, even after having passed the "Download" mode, the SCREEN does not turn the power on.

I tried to connect with Rootjoy but the smartphone is not recognized

Thanks for idea

Hello,
after trying several times, I finally managed to flash the UMI.
In fact, I downloaded the SP Flash tool V5.1620 and reset the entire memory before downloading the firmware.
Thank you for trying to help me
Goodbye

I also tried to flash the latest Firmware with SP Flash tool V5.1620 but it gave an error. Before the phone was running fine, now it's bricked. It doesn't boot up, also not into Recovery or Fastboot mode. It's totally dead.

Whenn I connect it to a Windows Laptop it's recognized in the Device Manager. I tried all possible Drivers I found (of course also the ones postet here in the UMI Forum), but whenever I try to flash using SPFT it does not start downloading.

A lot of sourced recommended that in such a case you have to remove the battery first and put it back in, but this is not possible with the unibody UMI Super. Does anybody have another recommandation?

Do I stil have waranty if i flashed the official firmware using SPFT?

Dear Benjinho, the phone disconects seconds after the putting the usb cable in the PC.  If your PC had not enough time to install the Driver by itself, your have to do it manualy in the device Manager.
As soon you see the unknown device popup in the device Manager, double click on it and try to install the Driver manualy.
If the Driver install is ok, then comes the tricky part. You have to have your Flashtool ready and waiting for the phone. Now you have to plug the phone in PC and start or restart a lots of times until the Flash Software finds the phone and starts.  I switched my phone with vol+ and power button on, released power button (not vol+) (before phone shuts down again) and hoped for the Software to find the device.  I played with this combination of buttons over an hour.  If you hold the button for more than 10 seconds it shuts down.

Hi,

The V5.1620 version of SPFT is linked on the ROM page. Didn't you used that earlier? You might had a USB connection or driver problem that just got resolved later.
