UMIDIGI has announced it’s latest camera-centric flagship phone -- UMIDIGI S3 Pro with a global giveaway. Featuring 48MP Sony IMX586 camera, 20MP Sony selfie camera, 5150 mAh big battery and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, the S3 Pro just got more than USD 200,000 crowdfunding on Indiegogo. And UMIDIGI S3 Pro will kick off sale officially at US$279 on 18th March. If you still has questions about it, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Camera: Can UMIDIGI S3 Pro take real 48MP photos?

UMIDIGI S3 Pro comes with the Sony’s most advanced 48MP camera sensor IMX586, just like that fitted to the Mi 9 and Honor View 20. The sensor has been proven it can shoot 48MP photos in great details. UMIDIGI also made a video to show the S3 Pro’s ability to make good 48MP shooting. And if you still wonder if the Helio P70 in the S3 Pro can support 48MP shooting, you can check out the official page of MediaTek and it shows the Helio P70 can support up to 48MP. So don’t worry, all show that UMIDIGI S3 Pro can handle 48MP photos well.

Performance and battery: Heavy games support?
Powering the UMIDIGI S3 Pro is the AI SoC MediaTek Helio P70, with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Helio P70 is an incremental update to the Helio P60, which is used in UMIDIGI big hit phone UMIDIGI F1. Many UMIDIGI F1 reviews on YouTube have already revealed the powful performance of Helio P60 in UMIDIGI F1. So as a more advanced SoC, the Helio P70 in the S3 Pro can no doubt run the heavy games smoothly.
And thanks to the 5150mAh huge battery with 18W fast charge support, you can enjoy more games without worrying about the battery life.

Like the Mi Mix Series and 1TB version Galaxy S10+, UMIDIGI S3 Pro got the premium ceramic material as the body. The ceramic phones should be highly durable and with strong signal reception, and so must S3 Pro. And it also comes with the glossy metal frame and the 6.3″ FHD+ waterdrop display paired with in-cell LTPS technology. Additionally, it offers a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as USB Type-C port.

I have a couple of questions.

Does the Umidigi S3 Pro have:

1. stabilization for the camera?

2. I have read the phone is not waterproof and that the back plate can come off.  Does this mean it has a removable battery and I could buy an extra battery too?

3.  Joosthi above asked about the panorama picture.  I too wish to know if it can shoot a panorama picture.

4.  Will the camera have a choice between manual and automatic scene settings?

No, only bluetooth 4.2 will be supported. The Helio P90 will be the first MediaTek SoC with BT 5.0 support.
The S3 Pro doesn't support wireless charging but NFC is supported.

Hello, Ben!
On the description page of UMIDIGI S3 Pro is written that screen resolution is 2340*1080. However, on the official page of MediaTek Helio P70, the maximum supported resolution is 2160*1080 . Could you please explain how you achieved support for this screen resolution (2340*1080)? Thank you

Thanks for replying so quickly. I think I’ll just wait for the next umidigi model. I’ve been with them since the UMI Z (before they were called umidigi). Hopefully the next model will have a snapdragon cpu or the P90

Hi Asametar,
They probably mean the max resolution of a standard (not notch) screen. Even the F1 (with Helio P60) has a 2340*1080 screen. Here's an original size screenshot.

Sorry but no, it doesn't have, there's no room for a notification LED.
