This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V1.0_20180926 system software

for UMIDIGI Z2 Pro

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,

never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI Z2 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

The system will show UMIDIGI_Z2_PRO_V1.0_20180823 as Build number after this update but the real version is V1.0_20180926

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6771_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Z2 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI Z2 Pro to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
• Go to Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts (the boot screen is displayed), then immeduately release the power button and keep only the vol-up button pressed until your phone boots into recovery. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy and 'No command'.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release first the vol-up button to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Dear Users with such microphone problem when the mic works in every condition but not in normal phone calls. Our engineers say that, it might be a specific software bug and a solution might be worked out.
Such users please check
1. your IMEI numbers in 'Settings --> System --> About phone --> Status --> IMEI information'
2. the FOTA version in 'Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless Update'
Please send both IMEI numbers and your current FOTA version to ben@91umi.com with the subject "Z2 Pro microphone issue".
We'll get back to you with a solution as soon as possible.

Knew about the unsigned workaround, and might consider giving it a shot at one point, but wanted to ask the admins here if there is a "normal people" way of doing it. I cant see any non IT educated people going through this, and in a way I would prefer people liking this phone, I like it a lot, versus seeing these hickups and giving up on the phone.

When you don't hear the caller, click on the Loud Speaker icon. You'll have the choice between Bluetooth, Ear phone or normal telephone calls. VoLTE will work if you provider implements the service. WiFi is heavily dependant on your Access Point characteristics.

Really, I can use the Z2 Pro happily. WiFi is even working better than on my previous phone. The WiFi driver is a Mediatek problem, they write the code, not Umi. I agree Samsung drivers work better. But the Mediatek driver has got better for my use case.

For me at least its essential that not only the WiFi but also all other Basic Functionalities of a Smartphone work correctly and reliable.
I want to receive Calls (yes via VoLTE, VoWIFI too), i want to be connected in a stable manner to my Wireless Connections, be it Mobile Data or Wifi and i want all builtin Sensors to work.
Sure, let them have time to fix everything else that is "not as important" like the Bokeh Effect but still, they made a promise with features and have to be measured with that. Besides that each feature is important to some customer..

I think the most annoying part is that deafening silence from the official Site and many customers like me dont know whether to send it back right away or to be patient and expect an update at some point...
As always, Communication is Key but unfortunately that Key is missing

the problem of heat can also be addressed to the wirelesss charger, if is the umidigi's one the % are higher.....the s2 lite cable charger was the hottest i ever had....

I see often the the newer wiless charger with the text that say that they do not heat up the smartphone or have temperature protection....

Hello, after further trying the new update, these are the results,
WiFi 2.4ghz now stays connected longer than before, but still very unstable, random disconnections 2 or 3 disconnections every minute.
WiFi 5ghz works fine after forgetting networks.
VoLte shows Enabled but not working
VoWiFi Enabled not working
Wireless charging, after 14 minutes the phone was red hot and had shut itself down.
Proximity sensor not working since updating from original firmware.
Dual 4G but data won't switch to other Sim after using it on first sim, can only use data connection from second sim after rebooting phone.

\n\nI managed to get SP Tool to work.
1. Phone is off and disconnected.
2. SP tool loaded and scatter file selected, uncheck "userdata", press download.
3. Connect Phone.  Messages appear in windows about device not being recognised etc...  Phone is in recharge mode.
4. With the phone, press up and then power. You will hear Windows beep almost straight away.  Let go of both buttons.  You only hold in the buttons for a very short while (one second maybe).
5. Flashing starts on SP tool.
6. Wait for flashing to finish then disconnect phone and power on.

I hope this helps.

It is intermittent and unstable.

I dont understand how you can fix some Camera Issues while here are much more severe ones still ignored :

- Wireless Charging is at max 5W!!!!!!!!
- Wifi is unstable
- Some Microphones dont work
- Dual LTE is not even slightly working
- For some Reason since that Update my Phone is restarting at random times and sometimes multiple times in a row

Those are some of the Core Marketing Specs you advertised the Phone with and you fix some stupid Bokeh Effect first? Sure it has to work sometime, since that was also a promised Feature but come on.
First make sure the Phone is usable in the everyday stuff STABLE.......

Im not attacking anyone, but i think customers can expect the mods to relay the priorities straight to the devs and assuming from the past week there were a lot of complains about essential (!) features...

Initially, 4G + 4G. After updating ,4G + 3G. There is something to be given priority over the function of the camera.

Plus im expecting some kind of information regarding hardware or software defects.
The Charging power over QI : is it fixable and planned via OTA Software update or is that an indicator for broken hardware?
same goes for my LTE problem, how should it look like when dual lte is working correctly? im just having the choice which of my 2 cards should be used for mobile data. that doesnt seem like dual lte... again : fixable with software and planned or not?

It is not helpful to provide a OTA (recovery) update that only works from version 0920 when there is no OTA (recovery) path to get to 0920.
