Hello, I need help :

I've tried to reboot my phone in recovery mode by holding the button Volume+ and power.

I've been presented a simple menu with 3 choices :

  • Recovery Mode
  • Fastboot Mode
  • Normal Boot

I've selected "recovery mode", expecting to be presented a menu which would allow me to factory wipe my defective SD card.

Unfortunately, after selecting this option, my phone quickly powered off. And now it won't boot.

I can still use the volume+ and power combination to boot to this three choices menu, but none of them works : I get the "Umi Simple But Diligently" screen, then the phone goes black after a few seconds.

It's impossible to reboot.

Is there a solution ?

Hello,

Try to reflash your phone with SP Flash Tool. You can find the downloads and a guide HERE
Currently only the 1.5 version is available, but after a successful flashing you can upgrade to 1.6 by Rootjoy.

Edited by Haagentis at 2015-10-16 03:14 \n\nSPFlashTool says that the scatter file I found in the 1.5 unzipped file (the compressed ROM) is invalid, and it won't load it (error 8417). What should I do ?

Use this recent version of SPFT: SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1532.rar. That will accept the scatter file of the 1.5 version. I checked it earlier. Choose the 'Firmware Upgrade' option. After you're done, check the IMEI numbers by dialing *#06# if you still don't get a working network.

Hey Bencebacsi !

My phone boots again, but, Oh my... My IMEI is invalid. I've searched on the internet how to fix that, and I'll try using MTKDroid. Hopefuly, I won't have to pry open the phone, as my IMEI is mentionned on a label in the phone's original box.

I'll keep you posted ! I also hope my misfortune and workarounds can help people in similar situations.

Edited by Haagentis at 2015-10-18 01:05 \n\nOk, so far, I've been able to use the "MTK Engineering Mode" app to input my IMEIs without using a PC (apparently, MTK Droid Tools doesn't work on 64bits devices yet), but my SIM card still isn't recognized.

I hope it's only my sim card that isn't functionnal (but it worked before my bricking problem!), as I had to cut it as a nano sim card... I also hope I didn't damage the sim slot while extracting the card, using the tiny metal pin... if that's the case, I think I'm done...

Also, I don't know if it could indicate anything, but Rootjoy doesn't recognize my phone eventhough USB debugging is activated. That's strange.

I have ordered a new sim card, and I'll keep checking if I haven't done any mistake while trying to restore my IMEI... But when I type *#06# in the phone I don't have any "invalid" IMEI message, and the 2 IMEIs are displayed ! I'm a bit lost... Does it have something to do with "NVRAM" ?

... I'm realizing I haven't tried what you said. I'll reflash with your method, maybe it'll get my phone to recognize my SIM card.

EDIT : No. I used the version of SPFT in your link and the 1.5 rom's scatter file downloaded with rootjoy, and SPFT still says that the scatter file is invalid.

I'm going crazy.
