Random Ghost Touches

I recently discovered a certain problem with the eMax. When I use the keyboard it's the most obvious. There seem to be some sort of Ghost Touches. When I press keys sometimes it enters different keys aswell, or sometimes even deletes entered characters. When using the swype feature of the keyboard I can sometimes see how the path takes a sudden change to somewhere else and then continues where it should, when I move my finger. Sometimes it also misunderstands pushes of different buttons, i press search in Youtube and it also thinks i pressed the menu button or directly pushed enter.


I'm pretty sure it either has to do with the touchscreen driver, or with the static of the screen, as it reads the current in the LCD wrong in some spots. I remember, that my Nexus 7 also had problems with this and google fixed it with a new touchscreen firmware in one of the updates. I hope there is going to be a fix with the lollipop update.

I have same ghost touch issue i reported few weeks back.
Not sure where my thread is gone now.
I got no response from UMI after sending mails including video showing ghost touch and in the end gave up.

Hi, We need more test and report in order to figure what is the problem and integrate the solution on next firmware. can you describe exactly in how many times typing it went wrong
for example, every 50 letter tpyed, it happened 1 time

So i did a factory reset and it kind of disappeared, i don't exactly know what caused it. I would say it happened pretty sporadically. Sometimes i would unlock the phone, go to the app drawer and it would open the app found in the position of the ghost touch. Sometimes it would happen, when scrolling in instagram or facebook, it would randomly register the click. When I wrote messages it sometimes hit the send button or delete, depending on keyboard and app. It happened very often sometimes, then it didn't happen for some time and then reappeard. When it was there, it happened every let's say 20 presses.

At first i thought that it had to do with the touchscreen itself and insolation maybe, but now that it basically went away, it seemed to be a software thing.

But i have a question: does a factory reset make the phone recalibrate everything when it restarts and i do a first new boot?

I did factory reset, flash ROMs ... etc and none of them work for me.

Again it is random issue i got two days so far without any ghost touch but it could be due to phone not used much. It is not happening all the time, but when it happen it make the phone unuseable which could last about 5 to 15min or more randomly (many times in the day) and then disappear again.

I removed the horrible screen protector that came with the phone and the ghost touch issues disappears

I have it removed already and have tampered glass screen protector.

I never seen a screen protector can cause this issue. In any case i am not using screen protector which came with the phone and still getting this issue.

Please enable touches from developer mode, and test for few days as it is random could appear at any time.

I have had very few ghost touches recently, still on the rom from 06.19 but i dicovered something else. sometimes i have the impression that the touchscreen registers my touches about 2-3mm to low. I get it often when I'm typing something, instead of yxcvbnm it sometimes registers a space or comma.

does the newest rom fix this issue?

i already have a new protectionfilm, i knew the original was bad the moment i touched it. i ordered a new one from amazon, which is fine, so far. especially after installing roms it becomes even worse. i had the least bad experience when on the rom from 19.06. the newest rom made it really bad. can't say why this happens but it makes the phone unusable. often i can't even write a single line of text message without something totally random happening. buttonpresses which happen without me doing them, etc.
