I've tried to update my UMI Plus accordingly to the first post.

Did you manage to fix it?

Ok, I had the same issue and managed to fix it.
Follow instructions from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/ ... king-p9000-t3446190

• download the original ROM, to fix current broken state from here http://community.umidigi.com/thread-5069-1-1.html
• SPFlash -> Download Only, include preloader then press download
• Connect the phone and Hold VOL+ button, after 2-3 sec SPFlash will recognize the phone and start flashing
  

Start the phone in normal mode.


Flush new Android N.

• SPFlash -> Firmware Upgrade, include preloader then press download
• Connect the phone and Hold VOL+ button, after 2-3 sec SPFlash will recognize the phone and start flashing
• After flashing all works fine

I still don't have OTA. I go to Settings -> About Phone -> Wireless update. It says 'system is up to date'. I have it 'check for update' and it says 'system is up to date'.

I tried SP-Flash tool on linux. I downloaded the rar file, unzipped it and run flashtool. I get the error

'Error: Initializing scatter file failed. Please check the name of scatter file which you load is legal'

The scatter file name is MT6755_Android_scatter.txt

Nothing is working to upgrade.

Please use a Windows machine for flashing or just download and install the FOTA update file. You can find it here: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-5876-1-1.html

I don't have a Windows machine. I only have Linux installed and don't have Windows install media.

Is it possible to use Wireless update -> Local updates and use a file on the SD card? I tried the rar file and it was not recognized.

Just a FYI. I did local updates, and got hung at the 'Rebooting' loop. I then did a factory reset on my phone. One more reboot, then tried the local update again. Now update is successfully updating.

You should process a factory data reset after Android version change and start to test your phone  ...

I do it.
Initially it seemed to work properly until it began to heat up excessively at the top and the battery discharge accelerated sharply.
After several days of observation I detect that everything works correctly until it loses mobile network coverage. Even for a short time.
There is no improvement even if you regain coverage.
Even though it indicates correct coverage and good signal quality after the loss, it often seems not to reestablish the connection until I do not interact with an application.
The only way to return to normal consumption is to reset the phone.
Any patch to fix this soon?
