Shipping cost is always on customer side (one way). Exactly the same as you returning faulty product to local store and you not asking for fuel or ticket refund.

So the moral of the story is that bloating of the battery is caused by user error... In so much as if you try and charge this phone like any other phone and make the mistake of assuming you can leave it plugged in, or heaven forbid, use it whilst charging, well your going to have a bad time.

And more the fool you, for having taken a punt on a relatively unknown brand who let you buy their wares through resellers with scant interest in honouring anything even resembling a warranty(whether you want to draw a conclusion from the fact that it's much more difficult to get junk in to China, than things out, well I'll leave that to you). And indeed, as you made the foolish choice to buy from such resellers, be happy about the fact that you should pay to send your poorly made/engineered device back from whence it came...

In the end, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

But this leads me on to my next point, the manner of some of the moderators on this forum is at times troubling. First, it would be fair to assume that the UMI Z/Pro attracted both people looking for value and potentially some 'tech savvy' types. Second, it would be fair to assume not all those people speak English fluently.

So a touch of humility would perhaps be in order considering that even if these phones are 'cheap', they still represent an investment (and a leap of faith). First off, treating paying customers as if they are mentally deficient, or by trying to hide behind petty comparable situations is low, and unbefitting of a brand trying to establish itself.

Secondly, a degree of patience towards the international nature of your audience and their language difficulties would be perhaps a good thing. True many of the non-English comments come across as aggressive (and for every 1 positive comment, you get at least 10 negatives), but this is due to a frustration rising from a device manufactured by the company that in some capacity you are representing. A device that could reasonably be described as having to date 'over promised, under delivered'.

Anyway, I don't hate my Umi Z, and I bear no one at Umidigi any ill will. However, so far my Umi Z has not lived up to the lofty expectations that Umidigi's MC department created.

I am, as many others here, concerned about the subject of battery swell... Mainly because I have an interest in self preservation.. But also because fire can, in many cases, be uncool (burning even non skate area of my body/apartment/car/pets is not on my to do list). My phone has not swollen to the point of concern, but as the bezel of my phone now seems to have developed a gap... I need to watch this further and treat this phone as if it is a complicated and temperamental black magic machine.

A little reassurance would be nice, but instead we get treated to the low rent typical disgruntled IT worker special of 'have you tried turning it off and on again' (or hard reset/full wipe/upload ROM business).

Would I recommend this experience to anyone...

Meh.

think that at least new and free batteries should be sent to the users, because the stores are not paying attention to the problem.
