I received the UMIDIGI Z2 in July 2018 having purchased it online. Due to another problem (missing settings for APN for a particular Canadian carrier) I have flashed all the ROMs on the UMIDIGI site several times in the hope that the setting will be available through one of the later ROMs. However I have not seen any self reboot issue nor any charging/heating issues.
Your post and the thread which followed did scare me as it is the first phone I bought outside of the North American continent - but so far so good, no problem but the APN.
Hi,
Similar topic we discussed in other umidigi model thread.
There was also Canadian market issues and eventually we found that the carrier not allowed to changed APN. Customer contacted to network provider technical support and they fixed everything for him.
Some times you need change IMEI number or network technical support need add your IMEI manually to system.
Just did the update right now, auto-rotate doesn't work either (G-sensor calibration didn't fix it). Dear Umidigi staff, I give you one more chance, if you don't wanna lose a customer after one month only, it's about time to make a working phone..

This is the response I received from the carrier:
"Re: Android 8.1 APN settings
This issue is due to the poorly built rom using outdated apns-conf.xml which defaults to Telus APN when it detects the Telus MCC on the SIM.
If it cannot be added on Android then you are SOL without root, with root you can use the updated xml that reflects the changes."
Of course I tried as root but could not add the APN. The settings revert back to the Telus APN. May be permissions on the file. Either I accept their claim of a poorly built ROM or I change the carrier.

Hey guys i have an issue as well.Bluetooth and wifi range is crap.Wifi doesnt get signal 3 meters from the router and bluetooth loses connectivity at 1 meter. Is it just me or is a common issue?
Hi, Bluetooth range is up to 11m in open area , Wi-Fi is definitely working up to 20m on 2.4 GHz and around 15m on 5GHz (all Wi-Fi tests were done in building)
