After flashing it back from 3.05 (latest) tot 3.03 my touchscreen finally works proper so when I press the letter L there is no P or enter or E showing up.
It seems like the ROMS of UMI are very buggy.
I made one conclussion for myself
NO UMI anymore because of the lack of a good rom version and kernel support for 3rd party developers
I took my umi rome to Costa Rica and bought a Costa Rican Sim card and put it in the 2nd sim card slot; my phone immediately shut down and now gives me a message " please put in privacy protection password". Any idea of how to get past this? Thanks.

Please use pin code from sim card.
If sim card pin code is not provided on sim card, definitely you have puk code (long number) so then you need lock your sim card typing in three times incorrect pin number and then phone will ask you to put in puk code.
