Thanks for the reply. Downloaded both, just because i could. Definitely leaning towards buying this phone now I know I can TWRP and root it. I've read the TWRP install guide on this forum and I think it makes sense. Once i've got the phone i'll be back here to learn more.

Hello,

I just tested the OTG mouse before rebooting into TWRP to make sure it works (I had to first plug the mouse into the OTG adapter and then plug that into the phone in order for Android to detect it). Afterwards, I just rebooted into TWRP, plugged the OTG into the port and it worked just fine.

I just rooted my Umi Super using these steps and everything worked like a charm (well, when I stopped making stupid mistakes everything worked like a charm!)

At the first, i got no response, flash tool wasn't able to find the device.
So i did a bit of searching and the problem was because of a bad instalation of the VCOM drivers...so i went to another pc, repeated steps and at the first i thought it was okay, it started flashing, but stuck on DA:100% red... after a few minutes windows wrote that the aplication is not responding... so i unplugged my UMI SUPER (At the frist it didn't want to boot up, i was worried i soft-bricked it, but all i had to do was plug it to the pc and hold power button to boot to the system)
Okay, so a bit worried after "almost soft-bricking it" i did everything again. I've uninstaled VCOM drivers to have clean fresh instalation a repeated all the steps written here and after hitting the "download" button and then pluggin my UMI SUPER i got 20seconds of silence and then this

So still nothing :-(
Pleeease do you have any tips ? Anything to make it work?
Or atleast how to temporarly root my phone, or atleast how to edit gps.conf without root?

Hi,
It's typically the result of a bad USB connection. Please try to use another USB cable/port or computer if needed. Don't connect through a USB hub.
The gps.conf file is non-existent at this phone, so you can't edit it.

Could it be, because my 5 yr old pc is not able to "handle"  USB-C plugged into mobile phone ? (On the "pc side" there is regular USB 2.0)

//edit: So problem solved, i've been searching discussions here and "at the instal guide topic." And one guy wroted there, that he used elder version of the SP Flash Tool.
So i dowloaded  V5. 1520 and BANG...it worked... Umi Super flashed TWRP succesfully, SuperSU succesfully, GPS set succesfully!!!

But maybe you should consider giving a "tip" to the instalation guide, that if you are stuck at DA:100% red, you should try older version of the SP Flash Tool, (mine worked at V5. 1520, the guy before me wrote V5.1612)
Because clearly i don't know it's because my pc can't handle the newest version, or the newest version can't handle my old pc, but it worked with older versions...after 6 hours of stressing

I've used 5.1620 and it worked fine... and twrp from xda forums post...

The TWRP recovery published in the root section was tested and works with each ROM version ever released for UMi Super. For flashing it, always load the same ROM version, that's installed on your phone. Don't use only a single scatter + the recovery file, just before flashing uncheck everything except the recovery partition. Also always use the SU installer shared there, or download a newer one if that's available.
