Z - Android 7.1.1

I've still the issue that international data roaming is not working with my UMI Z (v 7.1.1 and of course with activated data roaming option). I don't know whether it worked in the beginning with Android 6 because at that time i was not travelling. My first journey outside the reception area of german Telekom was after upgrading to Android 7.

I use a german T-Mobile SIM card since many years and all handests i had in the past worked without any problems in this field.

For camparison, i own a low budget chinese tablet with phone capability bearing another SIM card for the same contract and what shall i say: that piece of HW worked very well during my recent trip. The APN settings in both devices are identical.

Any idea to finally solve this annoying issue?

You should try my build prop as well, see if that works. I have gone from barely any 3G inside, to 3-4 bars of 4G access.

Yes, make sure you find the carrier you are roaming on's APN settings before you leave your country. You can then put them in when you arrive, and your phone will work. Instructions vary by carriers so I'd recommend looking it up.

dead, completely dead. my experience: I reinstalled android 6 and modified build.prob. it seems to be much better both as networks and as battery consumptions. do not put the android 7.1.1 anymore

I'm sorry but UMIDIGI such as its competitors as well is not used to release updates just to provide Android security updates. Security updates are provided only until system updates get released.

Currently I have no information about any further update for this model. Intermittent updates (updates of the same Android version) are never scheduled but I guess you read those words from me many times here on the forum.

Hi everyone,

My UMi Z experience has not been good ever since I got it. I am also facing sudden battery drain. I was out for ~4 hours yesterday and my phone dropped from 95% to 25%. I barely used my phone. It isn't the fault of anything in the background (I've checked many times.)

Around Christmas time, I will be moving to the Oppo R11. It has a very good real dual camera (unlike UMIDIGI), a non-MediaTek CPU. It does cost twice as much, but it is certainly worth it.
