20160810 version -- OTA finally works??!!! pls explain

I bought Umi Max , delivered with the 20160810 version; after enetring this forum I discovered the bug and decided to not take the risk to update via flashing the ROM as suggested..
the phone was working fine, except stock camera.....

but, suddendly,yesterday my device notified avalability of version 20161017 for download and installation...

done!    works fine, I got Pro Camera ...wowww!!!

but... dear UMI support...if it was a bug in OTA update with version 20160810 , how can you solved it? it seems strange to me... for you, the only solution eas to flash...

what really happened?? can you explain??

what about Android 7 in OTA?? now that I'm using a version 20161017 shall Android 7 available for UMI MAX???

Yeah, i'm a bit ponderous myself... it was all "you have to flash the firmware to get future OTA's" and now, suddenly the update appears OTA.

There is nothing strange. The problem with OTA with that firmware was the conf of the OTA in the system. If it was directed to another server for beta updates, it can't contact the main stream server. If they pushed the update to the beta server, it's normal that you can update now.

Can you do a video explaining how to do it on windows 10 because I really want to have this fix before December 24th. It doesn't work me at all or at least the whole process  with pictures and detailed procedures. Thank You

Please start from last to first picture. This information are only for vcom driver everything else is on here

Ok
Firstly download and install vcom driver
Download SPFT tool and ROM which you want here is latest version http://community.umidigi.com/thread-5061-1-1.html
Then open ROM file and unzip, extract to one folder (make your own folder somewhere on disc on your computer )
Then install and open SPFT
Click on scatter file and search for your folder with ROM click on scatter file
Change from download to flash rom on one of tabs in SPFT
All boxes should be checked /ticket on SPFT
Then click download
Then switch off your phone remove sd and sim cards (in case will be wiped)
Connect switched off phone to computer with usb wire
And wait for finishing.
You can check tutorials on YouTube etc.
We not recommending using SPFT tool for users who doesn't have experience.
You taking full responsibility in case brick your device.
All your data from phone will be wiped.
