I have the default settings, HDR is not activated, normal mode is selected.
The lag is the same regardless if the picture is taken during the day or at night.

Before the update it was even worse, but again it is too slow in capturing pictures!!!
Is this a software issue, or is it the specific device?

The current version has no such issues in its factory state. If updating by FOTA didn't help, I suggest you to update your phone with SP Flash Tool. That's a bit tricky but not really complicated.

Flashing with SP Flash Tool can fix any software errors but won't improve the existing features. That still writes the same software contant.

I think that one crucial point the devs should look at is the why the device is not compliant with google camera. With the latest version to date (3.2.0.45 arm 64 Marshmallow API 23) the application crashes under photosphere, panorama, and video mode. What is strange is that the focus mode works well (I first thought that there was a problem with the gyroscope handling which is not the case since the focus mode is working). I think that when these issues will be solved in the pure google world (with no UMI or third party software involved), a lot of camera issues will also be.
