Another Aussie here. My Umidigi s2 work phone basically became unusable after the last software update. Basically the same problem and timing as this guy: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-16416-1-1.html

But in addition to the issues he mentioned, I no longer have a recovery! (Picture of dead Android and: "no command"). Factory mode also doesn't respond to the power/select button. So I can't even try to reflash the ROM.

Of course, I can't post this in a separate thread because I'm not a platinum user or whatever. I really am reaching the end of my tether and on the verge of evangelising my feelings about this phone far and wide.

You no need factory or recovery mode. You can use SPFT to flash new ROM.

Good afternoon. My name is Yaroslav, I'm from Russia.
Not so long ago, I bought myself a new phone with the online store, very happy with the purchase, totally satisfied.
But after the update, my phone started to turn off the connection to Wi-Fi network, and pair with a Bluetooth headset. Please correct these shortcomings.

In Settings - Battery you can choose the Regular Power Saving option to avoid wifi/bt disconnections, and also all messaging apps should be enabled in the list of 'Active apps after screen lock'.

We all bought this phone to use it
Not just flash it over and over again without doing nothing
Start doing your job and make some descent software
So we can all enjoy this so called phone while still works

It's not about battery mode, I turn on the Wi-Fi connection, and it turns off by itself, after 1 minute, no matter what battery mode I have now is active. And Bluetooth connection is exactly the same. I like the phone very much, it works well, it does not hang out, everything is completely satisfied, except for these nuances. You just tell me how to fix those flaws, re-flash the gadget will help? Or maybe there is another way to fix these problems?

Another option is to contact to seller and ask for solution. Maybe they will offer you replacement because this could be hardware fault. We tested this on our testing devices and we can't experience this issue.
Of course we flashed latest available ROMs with SPFT.

umidigi have many problems
in camera
in BT
in WIFI too - I have the same problem as you said

and when you ask help from umidigi they answer -  "do recovery mode"
umidigi you have to help and fix the problem - turn off/on and recovery mode not help - it just run away because you have nothing to do
your phones are poor without fixing problems...
just keep doing new phones with more problems ...

Always first step is to perform factory reset, check for updates.
Then contact to seller (but most of users want only hear some miracle solution which is not existing)
Unfortunately some devices could have hardware defects which could cause such issues and this can't be fixed with software tweaks.
Please understand this.
