You have release dates for the S2 Pro and the silver version? Mind sharing that?

I have already posted this from Alliexpress on a few threads. And the Mercury Silver is probably going to be even later than that. So next year probably. Damn UMI should hire me to deal with customers

Hi,
First the charger should be checked (its voltage and current output) but if you can't do that, just try to use a standard (but well working) charger to compare.

If you are using original cable and charger then your device is defective.

Edited by merlot6230 at 2017-10-29 21:52 \n\nQuote from other - not mine since unsure how to share it.

UMIDIGI, please: are you going to fix all the problems listed on this post? WE NEED ANSWERS, we have paid to have a full-functioning product.

!!! BUYER BEWARE !!! UMIDIGI S2 FULL LIST OF BUGS:

-Critical bugs-

1) GPS.

GPS does not work at all. 90% of times device can't be found by satellites in every kind of area ( open rural spaces, Urban spaces, driving a car, etc.) . When the satellites can find the device ( VERY rare event ) the GPS just works badly, and i mean VERY BADLY, It offers no real time tracking. I could walk for 200-500 meters without being tracked a single time: the GPS does not track my position, the device thinks that I am stuck into a single place. Sometimes the device is able to track my new position after walking/driving for 600-700 meters, then It freezes again. All these problems have been found with GPS setted on "High precision" mode. Conclusion: GPS impossible to use, you would not be able even to call your Uber car with this piece of trash.

2) Microphone
the microphone is another thing which needs to get a firmware update very quickly. i get too much noise during calls even if i'm just swapping the phone from one hand to the other. People from the other side of the phone hear lot of mess during phone calls.

3) Camera

lot of guys like me are complaining about photo quality which should be far superior than the actual one: we have dual Sony cameras equipped on this smartphone and all we can take for now are some low-quality photos. This is unacceptable.

-Minor bugs-

1) Notifications' LED

Notifications' LED does not work properly. Sometimes it goes, sometimes it sleeps even if I receive notifications. If you lock the screen, the led stucks permanently on a colour or does not show up at all instead of blinking: the led starts blinking again if you unlock the phone.

2) Video Camera Recording

Video Camera recording drops automatically up to 14 FPS n dark places to auto adjust brightness. My old S3 Neo could register at 30FPS even in a bunker with zero light. No Option on Umi S2 Camera App to remove this auto-adjust feature. Only solution at the moment is to download a 3rd party app like MX Camera.

3)Various UI Bugs.

4) Static sound from the media speaker.

Everytime I open an App/a Video/a web page which requires audio to be played, a little static sound comes out from the speaker. The static sound comes out again when the App/video/page gets closed. Not the worst problem but still very annoying.

S2 is a failure, for the moment. i'd give the product 4 out of 10. If you're going to Fix all the Critical problems with firmware updates, i will surely change my mind.

You already admitted that, it is not your post but dispite that, you quoted it as your own one, without quotation marks. You can find the quotation mark character on your keyboard and you also can mention with simple words, these are not your own thoughts.
Let me get through the statements.

-Critical bugs-

1. GPS:
Only that user has reported any issues related to the GPS and after thoroughly tested it, I found that, the GPS receiver in the S2 is the strongest and most accurate one that you ever could see in a UMI/UMIDIGI smartphone. Here's my screenshot captured in central Europe.
Screenshot_20171028-223545.png

2. Microphone
Absolutely no audible noise is generated by the microphone. Swapping the phone from one hand to the other? Why would you do that while talking to the other party. This phone has a metallic cover, that (of course) easily can lead the noise generated by your hand to the microphone.

3. Camera
If you're talking about the camera quality, why don't you share some of your photos to let us know what you are talking about. The camera software of the S2 applies a stronger noise reduction than its predecessors after hearing the complaints of many users about the too noisy photos. Now you can get night time photos with almost no chromatic noise. The price is the less detailed output.

Later I'm gonna take some daylight photos

-Minor bugs-

1. Notifications' LED
It's true, the behavior of the notifications LED needs some adjustments. It always turns on if you have unread messages or missed calls but in standby mode it makes too long gaps between flashes.

2) Video Camera Recording
''Video Camera recording drops automatically up to 14 FPS n dark places to auto adjust brightness''
It's not a new thing, other UMIDIGI models just work as the same. Yes, in very dark conditions the camcorder must set a slower shutter speed (resulting in lower FPS) to be able to adjust the brightness. Some 3rd party apps can't adjust the shutter speed, so the result will be a constantly 30FPS but very too dark footage.

3. Various UI Bugs.
For example???

4. Static sound from the media speaker.
I cannot reproduce this issue. Please make and share a recording, that let us hear what you hear.

I must say hat, the UMIDIGI S2 still needs some improvements, but definitely not a failure.
