This thread is about S2 pro. S2 Pro is coming with Umi OS based on android 7.
S2 is coming with pure Android 6 so far.
I was told that next generation of S2 with upgraded SoC will be coming with Umi OS based on android 7
If you ordered S2 with Android 6 you will be not able change /upgrade firmware. You only receive repairing and security (if available) patches.
As I mentioned in other threads first release of S2 contains first generation of P20 SoC which not supporting latest firmware. But Android 6 is very stable and well secured system.
Only next generation of S2 will come with preinstalled umi os based on android 7 and contains next generation of P20 SoC.
Every S2 pro will be coming with preinstalled Umi OS based on android 7.
I've already subscribed to the prelaunch of the S2 Pro, but if the Mercury Silver is launched before I need to confirm and pay for my Pro, maybe I will go with the Silver.. I like it will have NFC, even though at present no one in Thailand uses it much! We mostly deal in cash in rural Thailand..
