Well, it seems that your device has strong signal reception, like mine. The remaining problem is that accuracy sometimes isn't good, with some kind of offset, especially with altitude.

Hi there everyone.  I've had my UMi Plus for a few weeks now and can confirm that my GPS is also very buggy and unreliable to the point of being useless. It freezes up every ten seconds and then takes 5 minutes to show any movement and then freezes again. I've read through this entire thread and I'm totally confusez.

Hi Z, after several hours trying to understand the problem (which was the same under Android 6 and 7), my "conclusion" is that (in my phone) it's not a antenna/hardware problem because the signal is strong. I was able to make it work way better after a run of the FasterGPS app (which requires root access). Oh, but I see that a new Android 7 has just been released. I'll try that now.

I have just installed the latest N version and am testing it right now. I can confirm that the GPS + Glonass now works "out of the box". I have added a screenshot there http://community.umidigi.com/for ... &fromuid=257807

Hello DeepAnger,
Thanks for this good news! It seems you're the quality engineer at Umi now!
Can you confirm that the GPS positionning is now reliable (does not jump anymore) when using the phone as a car GPS system for a long time for exemple?
I hope the same patch will be applied to the Umi Plus E ROM

Hello jipux,

I've only tested it on a short 6 km trip but I saw no jump out of the road on the GPX track with countinuous recording mode (osmand). I had lateral jump only once, with Android 6 and that was 2 weeks ago (but after FasterGPS). Altitude was odd with up and down jumps of +-10 meters. I'll need more time to tell if this has improved. I live in a very flat countryside so +10 m is a hill here.

Edited by rossi1979 at 2016-12-30 21:35 \n\nI still have the same problem even after the upgrade, it does not fix. Does anyone have the root step-by-step procedure for it to fix?

As I mentionned a few times here, I had to use FasterGPS. No procedure is really necessary as you just have to run it, grant it root, the select your location (continent and country) and that's all. At least, it fixed it when my device was running Android 6 and the first 7. With the latest Android 7, it did not needed it because the GPS worked without  any modification after factory reset + reinstall. So it should even work for people who don't root their phone.
