UMIDIGI One has got the new update with PDAF improved and Slippery Gesture added. The One Pro upda ...

Thank you for the reply. It's good to see that development is active for the One/One Pro.
Can you now confirm that we can expect an update to fix the app auto-start issue?

Ok, I waited for a confirmation about the app auto-start issue before posting this, but as no meaningful reply is given, I'll post a comprehensive list of the flaws/suggestions I noticed while using the Umidigi One for several months now:

1.  Video recording via main camera is very jittery and creates movement blurs in the recorded video, especially in lower-light conditions (for example, in a well-lit room at evening). This issue was introduced with the latest update.
2.  Bokeh (Stereo) photos need improvement in edge detection.
3.  Selfie camera is extrapolated, not a true 16MP camera, thus creating below-standard photos.
4.  Can't start flashlight from locked screen.
5.  Most third-party apps are not automatically started/working after reboot (this is a well-known issue with a dedicated forum thread).
6.  With Duraspeed enabled, and in it for the apps that are toggled on (to be kept working in the background), any Play Store update to such apps will toggle them off in Duraspeed, thus requiring their re-enabling in Duraspeed.

Now, here are some suggestions as to how to improve the overall user experience and satisfaction:
1.  On the left side of the notch, next to the time, there is sufficient space to show one icon (for example, of a received message or similar), but nothing is shown except time.
2.  In Notification center (when you pull down once from top), the space between quick toggles (wifi, bluetooth, etc) is too close to the Date and Settings icons below them, thus making it very difficult to successfully tap on the toggles.
3.  Make the fingerprint sensor quicker and more reliable.
4.  Reduce the blinking rate of the notification LED. Also, it shouldn't just turn on and off in a millisecond. If we blink with our eyes, we miss it. In my opinion, the perfect ratio would be to keep it on for 1 full second, then off for 2 seconds.
5.  Update the security patch (currently it's June 5).
6.  Provide at least one Android version upgrade (Android 9 Pie). You shouldn't call the Umidigi One (Pro) your small flagship and not provide it with at least one version upgrade.

Hopefully the issues will be rectified and the suggestions implemented in future updates.

In addition to the above, let me name the good things as well:
1. The phone is fast enough for everyday use and can handle even resource-intensive games without major problems.
2. The screen is excellent despite its nominally lower ppi.
3. The placement of the fingerprint scanner is excellent. I wish more phones would have it on the side.
4. The rear cameras produce nice photos even in lower-light conditions, especially after the latest update. Thanks for that.
5. The design is just perfect.
6. Thank you very much for including the navigation gestures.

I would like (maybe I'm not alone) to add scheduled on / off functions!
cochci.jpg
My bugs:
- Camera app: cannot control switch LED flash in photo mode (is set auto but sometimes I  want shoot without flash...)
- I turned off "Window animation scale" and similar animations, but after restart phone are back on again...
- and of course doesn´t work whatsup, viber, Eset antivirus, ACR after restart phone

Thanks for your suggestion

Please change display size in settings - accessibility - display size
3.  Make the fingerprint sensor quicker and more reliable.
Due to fingerprint scanner size and position, quicker and "more reliable" response cannot be used because security will be void
4.  Reduce the blinking rate of the notification LED. Also, it shouldn't just turn on and off in a millisecond. If we blink with our eyes, we miss it. In my opinion, the perfect ratio would be to keep it on for 1 full second, then off for 2 seconds.
We are sorry to hear that default setup of notifications LED are not fully comfortable for you, but due to our experience with older Umidigi products this setup was always most welcomed by users
5.  Update the security patch (currently it's June 5).
We only updating security patches if any of security was broken by hackers. We didn't get any security issues on current patch.
6.  Provide at least one Android version upgrade (Android 9 Pie). You shouldn't call the Umidigi One (Pro) your small flagship and not provide it with at least one version upgrade
We never advertised Umidigi One or One pro as "flagship" but as "compact" and we also never advertised further firmware upgrades .

Hi,
Any of our Umidigi devices with Android 8 or higher, doesn't have power on/off schedule.
Flash auto control is operating automatically depending conditions and system needs, if you won't use flash just simply power off auto control.
Please provide direction for "window animation scale" settings

- I had several Chinese phone brands with different versions of android and THEY ALL HAD THIS CHOICE... I got used to it... It also has an impact on the power button lifetime, usually you use low quality and in half a year it needs to be repaired (worse about built-in fingerprint)...[Edit] You are right: I am looking to Android One on Xiaomi A1 and there is not this choice...
- Flashlight control is only in video mode and now I found that affect in photo mode... But it is not normal situation: I want to take a photo without flashlight - so start camera, switch to video, change flashlight mode, go back to photo mode and now I can take the photo....
- For fast system response I usually set off every animations - see to the picture:

1. Thank you for acknowledging my suggestion.
2. This has nothing to do with display size, I've tried it already. It's just about poorly separated horizontal sections of the notification center, and can easily be fixed in an update.
3. I'm not sure what you mean by 'security will be void'. I was only referring to a quicker & more reliable recognition rate. Sometimes it takes several attempts to get my fingerprint recognized even though I placed it in exactly the same manner and position. But OK, this is not a deal-breaker, the fingerprint works and that's the most important thing.
4. OK, if most users feel that the current blinking rate is the best way, then I can't do anything about it. I'd just like it if the light stayed on for a little longer, as it's easy to miss now. Anyway, THANK YOU very much for including the notification LED in the first place, I wouldn't have bought the phone if it didn't have it.
5. OK, if that's your approach. I'm sure there is a reason why security patches are released every month, though.
6. You advertised both phones as being your 'compact flagships' " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvBpkbvot2Y " . Are you saying that if a phone is a compact flagship, it doesn't deserve a version update? Take a look at Sony, for example, and how they treat their compact flagships.

In any case, all of the above are suggestions that would improve user experience, but most people can live without them.
The bugs/issues I mentioned at the beginning of my previous post are what should be fixed as soon as possible, and I hope you gave them proper attention.

First of all, let me say big thanks to the moderators and developers for fixing the issue of apps not autostarting/working on reboot.
The thread I created for this issue will therefore be closed soon, so I felt I should transfer the list of issues/suggestions that were reported in that thread but had no relation to the topic of the thread. The issues will hopefully get more attention here.

So, here they are:
#  Video recording with the rear camera is unusable. This is No.1 Priority. Videos turn out extremely jittery, shaky, and thus blurred.
#  With Duraspeed enabled, and in it for the apps that are toggled on, any Play Store update to any such app in the list will toggle the app off in Duraspeed, thus requiring its re-enabling.
#  Ability to customise the notification LED or at least reduce its interval or increase its glowing duration.
#  Scene mode in the Camera app is not saved after phone restart, and even after closing the camera app.
#  In the notification status bar, allow for additional icons to be shown next to time (to the left of the notch). This is No.2 Priority, in my opinion.
#  Upgrade to Android 9 Pie. (Important for users but also for the reputation of Umidigi as an internationally-oriented phone brand)
#  In Notification center (when you pull down once from the top), the space between quick toggles (wifi, bluetooth, etc) is too close to the Date and Settings icons below them, thus making it very difficult to successfully tap on the toggles.
#  Improve the Stereo (Bokeh - depth of field) photos using the rear cameras.

Again, many thanks to moderators and developers for their work so far.
I sincerely hope that the above-mentioned issues/suggestions will be fixed/implemented so that we can have a truly excellent device. In turn, our job will be to spread the word about Umidigi in the most positive way.

Here an comparison with a Nokia 8, where spacing is good:
