Ok, I waited for a confirmation about the app auto-start issue before posting this, but as no meaningful reply is given, I'll post a comprehensive list of the flaws/suggestions I noticed while using the Umidigi One for several months now:
1. Video recording via main camera is very jittery and creates movement blurs in the recorded video, especially in lower-light conditions (for example, in a well-lit room at evening). This issue was introduced with the latest update.
2. Bokeh (Stereo) photos need improvement in edge detection.
3. Selfie camera is extrapolated, not a true 16MP camera, thus creating below-standard photos.
4. Can't start flashlight from locked screen.
5. Most third-party apps are not automatically started/working after reboot (this is a well-known issue with a dedicated forum thread).
6. With Duraspeed enabled, and in it for the apps that are toggled on (to be kept working in the background), any Play Store update to such apps will toggle them off in Duraspeed, thus requiring their re-enabling in Duraspeed.
Now, here are some suggestions as to how to improve the overall user experience and satisfaction:
1. On the left side of the notch, next to the time, there is sufficient space to show one icon (for example, of a received message or similar), but nothing is shown except time.
2. In Notification center (when you pull down once from top), the space between quick toggles (wifi, bluetooth, etc) is too close to the Date and Settings icons below them, thus making it very difficult to successfully tap on the toggles.
3. Make the fingerprint sensor quicker and more reliable.
4. Reduce the blinking rate of the notification LED. Also, it shouldn't just turn on and off in a millisecond. If we blink with our eyes, we miss it. In my opinion, the perfect ratio would be to keep it on for 1 full second, then off for 2 seconds.
5. Update the security patch (currently it's June 5).
6. Provide at least one Android version upgrade (Android 9 Pie). You shouldn't call the Umidigi One (Pro) your small flagship and not provide it with at least one version upgrade.
Hopefully the issues will be rectified and the suggestions implemented in future updates.
In addition to the above, let me name the good things as well:
1. The phone is fast enough for everyday use and can handle even resource-intensive games without major problems.
2. The screen is excellent despite its nominally lower ppi.
3. The placement of the fingerprint scanner is excellent. I wish more phones would have it on the side.
4. The rear cameras produce nice photos even in lower-light conditions, especially after the latest update. Thanks for that.
5. The design is just perfect.
6. Thank you very much for including the navigation gestures.
