Go to: settings/wi-fi/ settings icon(up right side near 3 dots).

Please go to settings and use searching option (magnifying glass icon in top right corner) and type in Wifi - search for Wi-Fi scanning

The device is static on the phone holder while the vehicle is not moving. The compass moves erratically. No wonder the cursor on navigation app keeps jumping.

Wifi scanning option was ON. Even when this was OFF or ON, while connected to a WIFI point, the Crystal WIFI connection quality is not good and deteriorates faster with distance. The problem is also with the throughput as the WIFI connection seems to be dormant. Only when the WIFI is reset then only numerous notification arrives.

MarcinP, these issues that I personally face with the Crystal is it common to all or only to me:

a) Poor WIFI quality and dormat connectivity
b) Erratic compass behavior with no calibration option.
c) Poor GPS connectivity.
d) Low SoC utilization

As if these can be corrected on the next OTA that will be fine. If not, if these problems are only affecting my device, I would like to raise it to Gearbest for warranty claim. Thanks

About dormant connectivity I would recommend you to go too settings - Wi-Fi - top right corner "gear icon - keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - always, also switch off network notifications.
b) Erratic compass behavior with no calibration option.
Please open calling dialler and type in *#*#33#*#* - single test - compass - calibrate
c) Poor GPS connectivity.
Please open calling dialler and type in *#*#33#*#* - single test - GPS and test outside.
d) Low SoC utilization
I hope that you know that 4 core are 1,5 MHz and 4 core are 1,0 MHz.
If engineerings will be able to do something with this then definitely something change after next OTA but be honesty to you this device is not high end so you shouldn't expect too much. We tested and for everyday use is enough.

I tried but once I enter the code nothing happens, and indeed erases all the numbers and symbols i entered before

maybe because i have nova launcher installed?

I tried this procedure but I do not see point six, so it does not work
1) Enter SERVICE MENU #*#3646633#*#
2) go to Location TAB (on the TOP)
3) Select Location Based Services
4) First Grey Button is GPS(OFF) flick to ON - below that you will see Satelite status updates
5) Change GPS MODE to FULL START
6) You should get Prompt from LocationEM2 asking for permissions - grant ALL
7) Go to last Tab - RAW DATA and flick navigation to ON and measurement to ON

incredible as a phone is sold without functioning gps !!! ABSURD!!

Unfortunately OTA update shouldn't work after root. But always you can use SPFT and flash next available ROM with user data unchecked to save your pictures etc. (of course always something can go wrong and then you need wipe all data from phone. So before using SPFT is mandatory to copy all your data to PC)

i did the root with the developer menu, it was an easy root i must admit

a) My WIFI setting is already set to ON even when in sleep.







For B and C *#*#33#*#* does not work, nothing appear on the dialer pad after keyin the digits. No way to calibrate the compass or GPS. Even when using the MTK engineering app nothing works as it should.
I have the UMI Super and i know the compass needs to be calibrate often by swinging it in the figure 8 and I felt the vibration on the UMI Super, but on the Crystal nothing was felt and the compass still misbehave.

For D, I knew that the Crystal comes with and Octa core 4 X 1.5GHz and 4X1.0Ghz, from the Powerful Monitor app, you see that only a single core of 1.0GHz was actually utilize. No point having an Octa core device, might as well be a dual or quad core device. It will definitely helps the UI to transition more smoothly and faster. I knew that in windows i5 or i7 you can adjust the core utilization to maximize it. I knew the engineers at UMIDIGI can unlock the SoC cores utilization.
