I can not comment on what your phone can or cant, but I can confirm that mine works fine with Volte and Vowifi, tested on 2 different carriers, one being Orange the other being Digi. The Orange sim enabled Volte automatically, for the Digi one I had to do some tricks.
After reading a lot of forums, and I mean a lot, sort of found out that there are 3 prerequisites for Volte to work:
1. The phone should be Volte capable (the Z2 Pro is)
2. The carrier should accept your sim card as volte capable and enable IMS comms (thats tricky with most carriers because they dont make the effort to add all phones to the list of accepted phones)
3. The correct IMS config on your phone, either pushed by carrier or you should set up separately)
If you are referring to mcfg_sw.mbn, I assume carrier specific preset volte settings, you could be correct, but I dont see how any phone maker could put all carriers on this planet in there. And even if they had that info, if the carrier does not allow Volte for your phone model, no config file will help. (happened to me with Digi, but I tricked their system)
What usually happens is that carriers get lazy, and dont allow Volte even though the phone can, and blame it on the phone maker. And as long as I pay a monthly fee to x provider, I expect them to make sure their services work, I dont expect the phone maker to go to my provider and convince them to enable Volte on the phone, the provider can do that themselves, if they want.
The phone maker sells a phone which is Volte capable, not the Volte service, thats your provider. And if it does not work with you, threaten them, set fire to their shops (kidding), they CAN fix this for you, its up to them.
PS: the thing with "all carriers do not limit volte" I heard before, its was a lie in my case, after spending some quality time with their support, I was actually told they do not allow this phone with Volte, but found a way to make it work nonetheless, and work it does Hope you manage to solve it. |
