Edited by FilSan at 2017-2-12 22:24 \n\nI bought a Umi Diamond through GearBest and noticed that on "security options" the option to allow the installion of APPs from unknown sources is ative by predefinition, so I deactiveted and noticed that after some time is was already allowing it again. So I did the factory reset more than one time, and followed the instructions here on the site and that didn't resolve anything. For the record I didn't installed any app that is not from Google Play Store.
This is really a big security problem and I am also one of the victims of this thread http://community.umidigi.com/thread-6116-1-1.html
I think that maybe this is related. Hope for a quick solution for this.

Also there is a bluetooth problem, don't know if it is the problem with the driver or the mobile OS with the drive that UMI is using but it doesn's detect some devices, already tested those devices in other mobile phones and everything is ok, also tested the UMI with 4.1 bluetooth devices and it was OK the problem is with the 4.0 or some versions of this bluetooth.

Hi Filsan,

I'm sorry to hear you are having these problems. I had an Umi Diamond for a brief period, and although I didn't notice any security breaches, I did have the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth problem you've mentioned.

My partner's father bought a Kingzone S2 from GearBest.com, and is having this exact problem with security breaches. After reviewing the phone, hard reset etc. it appears that the malware is already present on the ROM when first installed. I had read of Chinese manufacturers installing backdoors into phones, and it appears to be true. I have been scowering the internet for the past few days for a solution to this, and unless you can find a custom ROM (maybe CM) you're gonna be stuck with an insecure device.

With regards to the wireless issue, the only possible solutions I found were to either not use bluetooth (which wasn't an option for me) or maybe try using a 5ghz wireless network, as the 2.4ghz frequency is the same as bluetooth.

It's really sad to see so many people having these same problems with these phones. When I first received mine, I was so pleased with the device, and the fact there seemed to be a vibrant community arround it. Reality soon came crashing down within 48 hours, and it was clear I'd purchased a brick.

If you try to get a refund from GearBest.com, you're gonna struggle. I managed to get a $35 partial refund from them, and then reflashed the phone and sold it on ebay. Unfortunately, Umi don't seem to care and I suspect GearBest.com and other retailers are gonna start having alot of refund requests for these terrible malware infested pieces of tat.

I hope this helps,

John

Hi Filsan,

I'm sorry to hear you are having these problems. I had an Umi Diamond for a brief period ...

I didn't know that the problem was with the frequency but regardless it is a shame that this type of problems that shouldn't exist persists. Mainly because it is not something new and new equipaments are released with the problem regardless of the consequences.

I also noticed that some problems are exactly the same in all this small local chinese companys. I am getting the felling that the assembly line is the same but the branding and style is what differs between them but it is only speculation based on this coincidences. I have a friend that had a display problem with some dead pixels in ulefone and we noticed that the equipaments that were sold around the same time of other brands like oppo and umi had the same problem.

Well it was a bad experience for me to rely on this companies in order to find an alternative to my local stagnated market that is dominated by the big players that offers equipaments with small benefits at high prices.

Thank you Jonh
