I don't know what about other UMI phones (probably the same), but UMI eMax doesn't support the exFAT file system for the micro SD card and OTG drives. Only FAT32 is aplicable but that system has a file size limit of 4GB. So, even if you install a big capacity memory card and despite that you have a full HD screen and a strong processor, that's impossible to copy and carry FHD movies, since most of them are much bigger than 4GB. To split such video files is usually impossible without re-encoding them.
Leader brands already support exFAT system but in my opinion, in the age of FHD movies and cheap SXDC memory cards, that should be supported by all smartphones.
As far as I know, the technology can be licenced from TUXERA that's officially cooperated with Microsoft, the developer of the exFAT system.
I hope, UMI will take the appropriate efforts to put exFAT support in future firmwares. That doesn't need special hardware anyway, all existing phones can get the ability.

Please, vote. Do you want to use exFAT formatted memory cards in your phone to be able to copy larger than 4GB files?

I voted "Yes". I do think it would be a welcome addition. However with new SoCs that support hardware x265 encoding/decoding you could put a complete FHD movie on the phone with a size of 2GB.

Both would be perfect

x265 decoding is already supported (MX Player for example) but I've never seen a feature-length (at least 90 mins long) FHD motion picture file under 4GB. 2GB sounds to be a fairy tale.

I didn't say I was not possible. I simply indicated that with new hardware based decoding it will become more mainstream. It will also use less power, which means you can watch for longer while running on battery alone.

Maybe I was slightly optimistic about the file size. However I do have a (very good quality) 2 hour long movie which is <2GB.
I also have a 2 and half hour movie which is nearly 4GB, but doesn't look nearly as good.
So I would say it is possible, but it might not be for all movies. There are multiple factors that will determine file size, which I will not go into here.

For the record. It is quite possible to get a 2 hour FHD movie under 2GB, even in x264.
Whether that meets your personal standards is a completely different question.

Could you share a link for that 2-hour-long but under 2GB fhd movie? I'm really excited.

These movies have full hd resolution but not really full hd quality. On the other hand, the quality/size ratio is still extraordinary. Thanks for your sharing.

I'm sorry. I will not publicly post any links to material which may potentially not be legal in some countries.

You are right though. The quality/size ratio is extraordinary. The better the source, the better the compression can do it's work. On the other hand...any compression ultimately leads to loss in quality.

Let's not go too much off topic though. Maybe this is better discussed in the "Off Topic" forum.

I can confirm that, UMI eMAX Mini supports exFAT formatted memory cards. As far as I know, that's the only model currently with that support and the only model with a Qualcomm processor.
