So, my time with the UMi has come to an end. It dropped.....not from 1M like in the Umi Video.....not from 2M like in hte video....but a short drop from my pocket to the floor. Multiple cracked screens and only half screen working - basically unusable.

I know gorilla glass is not indestructable - but to say i am disappointed is an understatemnt.

WIll i buy another one as it is cheap? Probably not. For a fully developed phone with teh spec it loudly boasts...it is still lacking. Camera is not good. no other way to say it. touchscreen is not sensitive enough. All the other bugs that have been noted.

I've never been o a forum so much in a week for anything.

So, a wasted £150 and maybe I'll be back when it is easily available in uk and hopefully a fully working phone as advertiesed.

Thanks guyus, and bye.

Sorry to hear that.

Screen protectors and the clear case to protect your phone is a good idea.

I bought my phone from China and it got delivered here in UK fine, i don't understand what you mean difficult to get ? its not like there was an invite system.

The camera is excellent ! - the majority of photos i have taken are superb quality - The reason why you are not having great photos is most likely down to software not the hardware.

With the pre-release the phone came to £120 delivered from china, this is an extremely small price to pay when other phones on the market is similar comparator albeit different SOC are extremely expensive ( all my apps run fast, how fast do you want instagram, banking app, Facebook etc to open !? )

Some understanding of UMI is needed here, they are not a massive company like other leading manufacturers and this is a brand new phone from them ( their still learning about its capabilities and flaws) - you only have to look at Oneplus when they started to see that no phone company is perfect even to this day someone has something to criticise about. - Why can't anybody be happy they got something great ?!.

I guess the forum and community will miss you dearly - good bye.

Hi,

I didn't insinuate difficulty in getting it, but it takes it's time unless you pay - which i did - another $30 for speedy delivery. I did have a screen protector on and the case......well that's still coming from China! still on it's way with no update, even though I paid Gearbest extra for speedy delivery. So, it's not 'difficult', but I would prefer dealing with a UK company that's all.

I know it's a cheap phone, and i know it's a startup and that is why i actually paid the money in the first place. But i just can't afford to do it again in a hurry and will wait.

But the disappointment of the 'Gorilla Glass' chattering in much less of a drop that the example videos does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Cheap as it may be, it is still a lot of money.

You could always enter the competition for a new UMI Super ?
As the screen is smashed i dont think you can do anything at this potin aside from replace it.  I mean Gorilla glass is there for protection but to a certain degree, its not a phone case afterall just to stop scratches on the screen not drops .

I feel that the UMI video showing drop tests and scratches etc is like bulding a rod for your back, now the expectations that the UMI Super is indestructable have started.

If you looking for phone with screen that neverbrakes you're in the wrong place I'm afraid.
The one you want is Moto X Force -been dropped from planes, stairs, 30m on concrete etc.
Screen will never be smashed. Even ifso than Moto will replace it for free up to 4 years from the date you boughtit.
Unfortunately it’s differentprice range ~ £400
